Keep your feet planted on your recumbent trike pedals
I installed these pedals on both me and my wife's recumbent (tadpole) trike. The build quality is great. All metal construction. They seem rebuildable if the need arises. They are taller than most pedals, providing a larger contact patch with your foot. Be aware that these pedals can ONLY be installed using a 6mm hex key. They are not capable of putting any type of wrench on them. Keep this in mind if you do not care for only a hex key installation. That wasn't a challenge for me, and I installed these easily. I added a little grease to the threads before installation to hopefully make it easier to remove them in the future if the need arises. There is no guesswork on which pedal goes on which side, they are clearly marked as "L" or "R", albeit a little small. We wanted something that would give our shows a confident grip on the pedal, and they fit the bill perfectly. The studs grip the soles of our shoes fantastically, and neither of us wear anything special when we ride. Once you have planted your feet on the pedal, you cannot make micro adjustments without lifting your foot off the pedal and replacing it. It's great. The reason we wanted this level of grip is that with a recumbent (tadpole) trike there is a safety concern called "heel suck" that occurs if your foot slips off the pedal while at speed and your foot hits the group. The trike momentum carries it forward and you run over your own leg. The result can be quite devastating. These studded pedals give us the feeling that we would not have that issue occur. There are other options out there, none of which appealed to us (i.e. clipless pedals, heel straps, etc.). If you ride a recumbent tadpole style trike and are concerned about heel suck and would like to investigate other options to the traditional solutions, check these out.

Size Comparison
Bought a few flats to try out on my 4 bikes, since I am recovering from an ankle injury and don’t want to be clipped in right now. Seems pedal size info is vague, nonexistent, or often wrong on various listings. This listing shows a different size in the text than the images. Here are my measurements of the top of the platform WxL and then from spindle seat to outside edge of pedal in mm give or take a mm.Crank Bros Stamp 2, large: 110x108, 120.Venzo cut concave: 100x95, 113.Venzo cut convex (this listing): 102x95, 113.VP Vice: 100x85, 107The large stamp 2 is my favorite since it is wider and longer. I don’t like that the pins are driven from the top and will be hard to remove when worn and of course cost twice as much as the others. Like that the Venzos have a bit more space between the pedal body and crank arm. I’m less likely to grind my shoes on the crank arms. The Venzos are from the same extruded aluminum shape though cut differently are pretty equal. The VP are my least favorite, since they are smallest, but that being said I am happy with all of them. I wear size 9-10/43 size shoes. Can’t speak about durability since these are all new.

Good pedals, need small modifications to work for me.
They seem to be a good pedals. I installed on road bike and just purchased second pair for my other bike. When arrived they have almost 1/4" screws sticking out. I was trying to back off screws but they become loose. I ordered M3 x 6mm length to replace original 8mm screws. Tight to the end, and now working fine with 2mm outside surface, gripping fine any shoes. You need hex allen key metric, which should be provided. After 3 month and 350 miles pedals developed annoying click, I replaced those with Shimano flat pedals, no more clicking.clicking.
