Loud, Hot!
Loud and hot might work if auditioning for a reality tv show. For a water valve, it is very annoying.Obviously this is magnetic based, and being NC, it will be energized when open. That leaves a loud buzzing/humming noise. The electromagnetic mechanism also heats up quite a bit. I'd be a little worried about using any type of pvc or plastic piping components with this, or for anything flammable. For applications where it will frequently be in the off position, and it is water cooled, it's not such a big deal.I'm using this in line ahead of a high pressure misting system, to cut water flow to the pump, as I don't trust the pump not to sense a trickle of water and energize when it is not wanted. Having NC in that case works well, and as the valve only opens when the pump is triggered, the pump is louder than the valve, so it is mostly covered up.If you have a noise sensitive application, I'd look elsewhere, or probably look for a 12/24v system instead, it would probably be quieter.I also want to point out the actuation system on this. It is not what I expected. From the photos, I was assuming this to be a ball valve type, with a small motor that turned the valve open when engaged. It is not - it is a plunger type valve with a rubber seal on a spring loaded piston (spring holds it closed when power off, magnet pulls open when energized for an NC valve). That really isn't a problem, but it is may be for some applications. I'm somewhat skeptical of the pressure it could hold against long term, and that the rubber plunger won't wear out with time. The internal path is also restricted. It is fine for my application, but if you need a full flow 3/4" port, this won't do it. I'd estimate the throughput to be probably equivalent to a 1/2" pipe diameter. This would not be sufficient for a whole house main line.

Came all the way from China...Update: cannot recommend
Compact, clean design, very well suited for the job planned. But FYI...there is a very audible "snap" as the valve opens or closes (in case a completely quiet operation is needed). Pay attention when you order this as mine came directly from China by USPS and really did take over three weeks to arrive. I can't take umbrage at that because it did declare the long transit time during the ordering process. I suppose I thought is was a misprint. Overall, a fine product.Update after attempted installation: The above was my first impression from examining the unit and doing some initial temporary activations. However, once I actually installed the unit I found it impossible to stop it from leaking. As others have stated, this apparently has some unusual thread pattern which is not NPT. I am quite resourceful and no trick I tried would effectively seal the threads. I'm sorry because this is a clean design, but if it cannot be used in a typical application I am forced to withdraw my recommendation.

Good enough
Works well enough for opening and closing water flow at about 50psi on a 3/4" line. However the pipe thread size seems off, I'm using IP threaded pipe bottomed out with a lot of tape to keep it from leaking. Also the actuator gets hot when left open for periods over 10 minutes and the actuator slams shut when turned off creating a lot of water hammer.Otherwise, this valve works great. It makes no noise and requires no special control to operate. I'm using a 120v light switch and a 120v kill switch to operate it.

Finally found 110VAC solenoid valves
I have been looking for 110VAC (24V are easier to get) valves like this for a long time. Finally found it at Vktech. Quick shipping. The packing was not great but adequate - bubble wrapped in plastic envelope - I ordered three for some home projects all working great. Unfortunately at the time of this writing the item is no longer available

Valve ON for more than 30minutes could cause a DISASTER
I tested the unit at 120Vac for 30 minutes.Since my water system could run dry the unit was tested without water. The coil body temperature rose to 160 degrees F using a meat thermometer just touching the top of the coil. The room temperature was 70 degrees FIf I had continued the test the valves temperature would haveexceeded the 179F that the valve was rated for and failed possibly causing a fire.My water system is constructed or PVC pipe which is rated to 140 degrees F.So if I had used this value and the water system went dry for over an hour or morethe PVC pipe possibly would have melted. Flooding my basement.I am returning this valve to Amazon.

Good valve but hard to get to seal.
The valve works well and is not very noisy. The only problem was that the pipe threads are too short. The pipe thread adapters I used bottomed out before they sealed. I used another pair of adapters and lots of Teflon tape and got it to seal.

Price is very good if I can make it work
My experiance: I believe that the threaded female socket is shallow or oversized. My adapter goes in and seems to hit bottom. Have been attempting to fix for a week. I can't stop the leak. Am giving three stars until I can verify if this is the case.Price is very good if I can make it work.

Price is fair. It works
It works 99% of the time. Sometimes it does not open the valve and begins to make a loud noise instead, but that only happens 1/20 timesThe price is fair
