Decorative Fusion Knots: A Step-by-Step Illustrated Guide to Unique and Unusual Ornamental Knots

I ordered this book for my husband who drives a tractor trailer over the road. He has alot of time on his hands just sitting and waiting to get unloaded.I wanted to find something he could do in the truck to help pass the time. He has really enjoyed this book and the knots are amazing. He has also started making bracelets with some of the knots. He is very pleased with the pictures and directions in the book. He said they are simple and very easy to follow.

Being a knot enthusiast, I was immediately interested about this book when I heard about it from a friend. I own several dozen books dedicated to knots and their uses, and while some are better than others, most show what is essentially the same content. Since this book appeared to be a different take on knots, I pre-ordered it from Amazon and was pleasantly surprised when I got the e-mail that it had shipped last Friday. I received it yesterday and proceeded to spend hours reading it and practicing the knots and ties inside. As the name implies, these knots are decorative in nature, and provide a beauty to projects and crafts made in rope or similar mediums. Many of these knots are esoteric, and that is what makes this book stand out from the rest. While every other knot book focuses purely on knots for their function, and there is certainly nothing wrong with that, this is one of the few books to focus almost exclusively on the aesthetic value of knots as an art form in and of themselves. Of all the knot books I own, and the countless other's I've browsed through, I cannot think of any other book like this one. If you are interested in knots or rope in any capacity, or work in any crafts that use cordage, then you must own this book because there is not another title like it!

As indicated by the title, the knots demonstrated in this book are decorative and beautiful. If you are looking for knots to sew to wearable art, quilts or exist as key fobs or jewelry, this is the book for you. I bought the book to add to my library of knot tying for clothing fasteners and closures... this book is a bit lax in that department, but with a little tweaking, most of these knots can be adjusted to suit my needs. And after all, making a knot your own is the whole point. The instructions are easy to follow and the steps are clearly illustrated with sharp pictures. Starting out on a few of the knots, It would have been nice to have a "demonstration" length measurement to start with, but again, the freedom to experiment was interesting. If you have tied knots before, this book might add to your knowledge. This book should really be 3.5 stars.

Ok...FIRST...this book and it's author are BY FAR the best instructional information that is avaliable out there today!. JD'S passion REALLY shows through and the "EYE" view his instruction give...REALLY helps a NOVIS and experienced knot tyer understand the method of fusion knots...it is "KNOT" just about military style knots...IT IS about a person that has instructional skills that allow the end user to really understand what knots are ALL about...yes functional...and yes beauty...but most of all you get what you put into learning about knots. MANY of the listed knots can transition into military and survival applications...but BEYOND that it's the sheer talent of JD that shines through and I would recommend this book HIGHLY to beginners AND the experienced knot tyer...JD is constantly updating and pushing the envelope of knot tying...check his web page and you tube videos and you will agree...

I bought this book for more practical application in tying useful things. There are some good and useful knots in it, but overall it is exactly what it says, decorative knot work. The instructions are fabulously laid out and easy to follow. If you know the specific knot your want to work with, go to the you tube videos. If your looking for something unique and you don't have a name for it, this is a good place to find it. These knots can lead you to your own applications. I made a belt with the trilobite knot and it turned out great. I am sure that a lace maker could learn a lot from this book about new and unique patterns and knot tying is a great way to entertain yourself at a boring job.

Whenever I am feeling knotty, I curl up with this book to learn another move. Beautiful knots and just a lot of fun to do.

I am happy with the book and all the photos in it. This is the first book I have bought and the first knot book that I own. Well made, and I am not much of a reader so I love all the pictures and brief explenations. My favriot section is the Paracord section. It might take a while to get what the picture is trying to explane. Love his videos on youtube and I am a proud subscriber. Long Live JD From TUIT. So I can learn more knots. And get more books. And I would like to add a suggestion to improve satisfaction Include a DVD and rope and call it a Fusion Knot Starter kit.

This is an interesting book. It clearly illustrates how to tie a number of decorative knots. The scope of the book seems rather limited because it doesn't show the knots being used in a greater context. For example, it shows how to tie a basic knot, but not examples on how to use that knot to decorate anything. The book is logically organized and easy to follow, but I would recommend The Ashley Book of Knots for anyone interested in knots.

Ich interessiere mich schon immer für Knoten. Allgemein ist es etwas schwierig ein wirklich gutes Anleitungsbuch zu finden. Obwohl das Buch auf Englisch ist, kann man alles ganz leicht nachknoten, weil alles so gut bebildert ist. Und ich habe hier einige Knoten gefunden, die ich noch nicht kannte und für eine künstlerische Arbeit verwenden kann. Absolut zu empfehlen.

I pre-ordered this book and was looking forward to its eventual arrival. The book has exceeded my expectations, and opened up a cornucopia of inspiration for magically transforming my ideas for projects and design for clothing, accessories, and soft furnishing. Because of the way the book is laid out and step-by-step explanation, my husband will be interested to create a lot of these for me like a little boy at the sailboat yard, and will ACTUALLY ENJOY HELPING ME. It also strikes me that it will be great to sit with children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews alike and teach them something fun and different to the things their friends know, The use-ability of the techniques in this book are only limited by your own imagination. Definitely a book that will sustain its right to remain on my shelf - or rather spend more time on my workspace actually being used!

Os nós descritos na obra tem aplicação, em grande parte, para ornamentação. Alguns poucos podem ser usados em salvatagem, embarcações, trilhas e técnicas mateiras. Recomendo o livro. Para melhores resultados, o cabo tem que ser maleável e de espessura correta, caso contrário os nós não ficarão tão nítidos. São belos nós, escolhidos à mão pelo autor, não apenas pelo visual como também pelo significado e história por trás de cada um. Foi uma boa aquisição;
