GREAT book for Human Resource Instructors
This textbook is very well written and students well appreciate the price. Instructors will like the ease of the each Chapter end with a test to give to students. Overall the organization of the topics are thought through and the logic of the written material is understood.

Basic, typos, not in depth enough for a beginner
I was so excited to receive this book and dove right in. Right off the back, the sentence structure seemed almost too forced, if not broken, and regardless of the fact I read 2-3 books a week on average, I was having to reread sentences numerous times for them to make sense in my brain. While giving myself the benefit of the doubt, I would say with certainty that it wasn’t because I wasn’t comprehending the information. The information was just placed in weird places, sometimes in seemingly the entirely wrong chapter. Take for instance the chapter on federal regulations. To me, who works in HR currently, I was expecting at least a portion to cover FMLA or other large federal regulations on the workplace (OSHA, etc.). Neither of those were even mentioned. Instead, it talked about utility, water, and sanitation laws. Absolutely nothing about employee protections through federal law. Save yourself a couple bucks and choose a more in depth informational HR book.

DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK!!!
If you are an avid reader, you will find yourself wondering if something is wrong with your comprehension. It’s a lot of fancy words, but little meaningful content. Poorly written book. It feels like it was written by a chatbot rather than a real person. This was very disappointing because I was expecting a better presentation for a subject I am wanting to increase my knowledge base in.

Poorly written, generic, unhelpful
This book contains, not HR management essentials, but remarkably vague and unhelpful strings of unsupported assertions and vague descriptions of management theories. I've done HR related consulting for 20 years and not only did I learn nothing from this book, I found errors of omission, overgeneralization, and passages that were useless, on nearly every page. Not worth your time to read.
