Palm Beach: An Architectural Legacy

Having lived in Palm Beach, I can really appreciate what Polly Earl has created. Beautiful pictures, and interestingly written. A very fine book.

Attractive coffee table book that I bought as a gift for friends who moved to Palm Beach. Book is true to its description.

Covers 20 houses and and a couple of churches. All the photos are in color. Each house or church is described with text accompanying the photos. The photos show interiors, exterior facades, gardens, pools, and patios. Some of the photos depict details such as stairways, loggias, ceiling woodwork, wall paneling, and doorways.

This book covers an impressive array of homes and the images are crisp and well conceived. Palm Beach is so blessed with stunning architecture, it really is like a laboratory for grand residental design. The homes selected are for the most part spectacular and the interior detailing is often stunning. I highly recommend this book to anyone with an appreciation of well crafted restoration and great residential architecture.

Polly Anne Earl does a beautiful job with this book. It is everything I expected it to be. The pictures, the history, the overall format.The book highlights many Robert Ballinger award winning homes throughout Palm Beach.The award is given for outstanding historic restorations of homes deemed "historical landmarks".This book includes majestic homes by many renowned architects including Addison Mizner, Marion Silms Wyeth, and John Volk amongst others.Another book to enjoy is "Palm Beach Splendor" the homes of Jeffery Smith.If you are thinking of building a home, have an interest in architecture, or just simply enjoy browsing thru beautiful homes; you won't be disappointed with either.fp
