It's a great all-in-one clean air solution for a living space
I have owned a handful of other HEPA filters, and this is an excellent model. We have been cooped up inside for a while and my allergies are getting a little worse due to our pets, vintage rugs, house dust, and wood dust. This unit deals with everything, and my nasal and eye allergies are manageable again without eye drops and nose spray. This filter has a very low noise level. Easy to move around despite the weight, because the top part is a handle. Moves a high volume of air pretty quietly. The high setting sounds like a box fan on medium, and is muffled by the plastic housing. The middle setting is as quiet as a moderate outdoor breeze, and the lowest setting is nearly inaudible. My upstairs unit deals with pet allergies and old carpet dust very well - also the uvc light and airflow will hopefully help with COVID-19 safety when quarantine is over and we are having guests again. I just bought my second unit for my basement workshop and it has made a dramatic difference in the dusty air down here. I own two other small germguardian models for the bedrooms, and they're effective at rooms. This one is undeniably much more powerful at moving and cleaning air, and keeps the air clean in our connected living room, dining room, hallway, etc. Between this model and a good fan to distribute HEPA-filtered air, our living space has great quality air now. I would recommend this unit, and would buy this again myself.

Solid filtering and odor control for a fair price.
This is the business. Finally, a product which meets our needs. What are our needs? Our needs are a mix of needing solid air filtration due to living in a downtown environment and cooking odor mitigation. Plus, we have two cats. In our high rise, with giant dual glazed windows, etc., there is air exchange via a plenum. The air enters via a pocket door in our second (guest) bathroom which is pretty central to the (850 sq ft) apartment. So, outside downtown air is coming into our space this way. Then there are random cooking odors which manifest via this same air exchange point. OF COURSE this should be fixed by the building. But have you ever tried to get something like this fixed when all you do is lease the space and there is a waiting list? ha ha ha ha This device includes the tech to deal with the odors (charcoal, UV and Ozone) AND a HEPA filter. On medium it is a gentle white noise. On low it is inaudible. I invoke both the UV and Ion generation and this unit scrubs the air very clean. Previously, using only a HEPA device, the smells saturated the filter quickly, rendering it stinky. It sits in the hallway across from the pocket door from which streams the outside (and other) air. Highly recommended. As you can toggle the UV and Ions, it represents a high degree of flexibility. It is well made, practical with the built in handle, and effective.

Effective, but bulky
Read a ton of great reviews for this product, so I purchased 4 of these. One arrived without filters, and I’m assuming the UV light was also missing, because the light wouldn’t stop flashing after I inserted filters from one of the other units to operate it. That unit was returned. As for the other 3 units, to be honest, they seem to work just like any other air filter. They’re fairly quiet, but noise isn’t a main concern. At the lowest setting, you can barely hear it; medium setting it sounds like water running in the next room over; at the highest setting, it’s pretty loud, and I think it would drown out the loudest snoring. One downside of these units is at night, because the lights are super bright. There’s no option to turn the lights off for nighttime sleeping, and that’s really inconvenient and annoying. We’ve had to cover the lights as best we could with thick towels. They sometimes fall off, and the lights are quite blinding bright blue/white LED looking lights. Another issue is it also doesn’t seem to help filter out smells. I’m not sure if it’s because the carbon filter inactivates after a day or two, but if smells are your goal, this is not for you. Our main reason for buying this air filter was primarily for allergies. It works fairly well compared to other air filters we have used and own. We feel the air quality has gotten a little better, but not substantially. I was hoping this would keep dust mites down to a minimum, because that’s our main allergen. It does an okay job at that, but I’m still on the hunt for a high quality filter that will be more effective on dust mites. I’d say our allergies are down by about 10% compared to using our Honeywell air filter. However, it’s not a bad filter for now. Lastly, these are quite big, and it says to keep clear a minimum of one foot around all sides for proper operation. They’re already quite large and bulky, so if you don’t have the space, these are going to be really inconvenient. Very easy to set up and change the filters though, and the rounded design of it makes it easy to clean and keep clean.

Super quiet in comparison to my old filter
Super quiet in comparison to my old filter. It's actually quieter than my A/C as well. My dust problem has virtually gone away, and it is pleasant to use. My friend keeps saying it's 'from the future', because while the buttons do not have a feed back to them, the device not only changes lights but also makes a pleasant chime to indicate something is changing. The filters were easy to install (just make sure they are pointed the right way). I've been using this for almost a month running nearly constantly. It is one of the largest they make, but it isn't much larger than the Holmes unit I have in the sense of the depth and width, what makes it larger is the height, which for this kind of sit against a wall filter you don't even think about. YES the UV and the ION turn off. The only thing I would ever want to change is the color of the LED lights, I'd want to change them to a red for use in a bedroom (in general red is better for dark adjusted eye sight, thus red bulbs in photographic darkrooms). But even though the blue lights are bright and clear, I hardly notice them when not looking directly at the unit when it is in my living room. EDIT: After 5 months of near constant use. My house has remained wonderful to come home to. I live in an rented space and have some pretty unpleasant allergies (grass, mold, mildew, dust...etc), this has continued to help all winter, and into allergy season. I have a cat, and have had friends who are more allergic to cats than I am come here with no problem. Keeps the dander, dust, and odors down. Even helps with cooking smells. Still pleased. Looking forward to seeing how it does this summer.

AMAZING Results
My somewhat detailed review: I have regular allergies that have me sneezing all day and night in my home. I do everything I can to alleviate them. I previously had three Honeywell 5020 Hepa Air Purifiers (which I bought here on Amazon) sprinkled throughout my house. My allergist uses them. To be fair, I rarely had them on in my house because they were SO NOISY, I couldn't think with them on. (I have since given them to my personal trainer, who runs them in his gym, and we have noticed a significant difference in the air quality.) I bought this purifier and the more expensive Oransi Max HEPA Large Room Air Purifier, to see if I noticed a difference. I did, and it was huge. First, noise levels: the GermGuardian is near silent on BOTH levels one and two. In fact, I've often had to check to make sure it's on, when it's on level one. It is seriously whisper quiet. Level 3 is a little noisier, but nowhere near as noisy as the Honeywells. (The Oransi rattled on level one and was noisier all around.) Secondly, the purification was noticably much better with the GermGuardian than with the Oransi. The air is srisp and clean. I can breathe without sneezing. It is amazing. ALSO, I cook A LOT of meat (I am doing a Whole 30) and bacon, which tend to really stink up my house. This purifier cleans the air very quickly. By bedtime, all food smells are gone. I now have one in my bedroom and one in the living room and my entire house is clean smelling. I look forward to seeing my electric bill... but at least I'm not sneezing all the time. :)

Makes the quality of LIFE so much better!
If you're like me you are doing your research right now and are on the fence about spending this much on this filter. I was too. My son has severe allergies to every kind of smoke, dander, dust, pollen, you name it. Recently it was so bad he was sent to the ER in an ambulance. I had enough and needed to make more changes to improve his quality of life. I did my research and kept coming back to this filter. So I bought two of them. BEST INVESTMENT EVER! He sleeps comfortable. He doesn't get congested. No more breakouts all over in massive welts. I can't protect him when he leaves the house but if he jumps in the shower when he gets home, it's nice to know he has a safe environment with clean air to live in. You will not regret this purchase. I took a peek at the filter a few days ago and was shocked at how much it trapped inside of it in such a short amount of time. This filter does it's job and it does it exceptionally well!

Works very well and very quiet. Good value.
The product looks good. It is nice and quiet. The air is very nice after a few days of this device online. The price might look a little high compared to other brands but it is worth it. No issues with setup...very fast. The filters will be a little pricey but the result we see so far says it is worth the cost.

Good product...operates as expected
Pros: 1. The machine does a good job of cleaning the air and removing odors. 2. It has a very quiet low speed for night-time use. It’s almost silent, but I have a hearing impairment and those with better hearing may disagree. 3. The device as a separate ionizer and UV-C germ killing lamp. These can be run separately, together, or not at all. 4. There is an automatic shut-off option—user-definable at 2, 4, or 6 hours. The user can also disable the shut-off option. 5. The filters fit nicely into the chassis. This means that the air is properly forced through the filters rather than around the edges. Cons: 1. Panel LED’s cannot be turned off. This turned out to be more annoying than I realized at first. In fairness, the manufacturer clearly indicated that the user could not turn out the lights. While these blue lights do not seem bright in the daytime, they are disturbing in my bedroom at night. Blue light is reportedly disruptive to sleep patterns. I covered the panel for night-time use by using a piece of thin corrugated cardboard. I used thin stock because the switches are sensitive to pressure, and because I could shape the cardboard to fit the curve of the panel. I used duct tape for the “hinges,” and I recommend that you leave a little slack in the tape for this purpose. The photos show how I did this, and also I suggest that you leave an extra quarter-inch of cardboard at the bottom for a “lip” to open the cover. The device does have the ability to turn off the beeping sounds when pressing the switches. At this price point, I would have thought that the manufacturer could also have created an option to turn out the lights or even better, have them time out after a user-selected interval. 2. The consumables are expensive. $75.00 is highway robbery for a filter set replacement every six months or so. Also, the UV-C bulb needs to be replaced annually at $35.00.Three years of consumables cost more than the one-time price of the device, which itself is expensive. 3. The “high” fan speed setting is noisy, even with my hearing impairment. 4. For this price point, the system should include a hand-held remote control. Again in fairness, the vendor clearly indicated that the device lacked this feature.
