Great water fountain for cats (or dogs.) USB power doesn't come with wall adapter.
I bought this to replace a cat fountain I bought years ago that had broken. Previous cats we have owned had kidney issues, and the vet has always recommended encouraging drinking by having a perpetual fountain like this or by leaving a faucet trickling. This fountain is very good overall, here are my pros and cons:Pros:- It is transparent, so you can easily see the water level, and whether the water is "dirty", etc.- It is a simple attractive design, and is small enough that it doesn't get in the way.- The fountain is very quiet. The only time I hear it al all is when the water level gets a little low, and is dripping between the filter and the reservoir. (Or when my cats are noisily lapping at the water.)- The fountain is (mostly) easy to clean. The relatively simple design is pretty much two big sections (top and bottom). The top contains the compartment with the replaceable filter and the spout. The bottom is just the water reservoir and where the small pump is placed/submerged.- The filter is easy to get to, and replacements are easy to obtain. I have also found aftermarket (non-OEM) filters that are cheaper.- The price. This is the correct price point for a fountain like this.- Our cats love it.Cons:- It holds an overall smaller volume of water than I had hoped. It is less a gallon (1.5l = ~.4 gallons,) so it needs to be refilled a bit more frequently. The good news is that it can easily be refilled by (slowly) pouring fresh water in the top. (The filter is a simple gravity feed between the top "bowl" and the lower reservoir, so if it doesn't drain well when refilling, that's a good indicator that filter is dirty and needs to be cleaned or replaced.)- Like any similar fountain, they do need to be dismantled and cleaned periodically. This design is simpler than others I have used, and it is isn't difficult to clean, per se, but it isn't dishwasher safe (at least that isn't recommended by the manufacturer,) so a thorough hand cleaning is necessary. (It can get a little slimy if you let it go too long.) Definitely pay attention to the pump intake and the filter areas.- The only thing that is occasionally finicky is the correct placement of the pump in the lower reservoir. The feed pipe to the spout on top can be a little fussy to align properly when putting it back together.- I am cheap and I manually clean the filters in an effort to reuse them a few times before replacing them. I have tried running it without a filter, which is possible, but it makes it much more likely that dust and pet hair will build up on and block the pump water intake, reducing the flow and potentially shortening the life of the pump itself. Bottom line: Use the filters and thoroughly clean the fountain every couple of weeks.- The pump power cord is USB only, and they do not include a power adapter to plug into an AC wall outlet. This wasn't a big deal for me as I have USB ports in a nearby outlet. Plus, in any modern home, most folks will have extra USB wall adapter laying around, but you will need one to plug it in.- Newer versions of this fountain appear to a water level sensor that helps protect the pump, but if you have the model I have, if the water level gets too low, the pump cannot operate. I thought it had burned out a couple of times, but after a good deep cleaning and rinsing, it has always restored to full flow and quiet operation.Again, overall, I really like the fountain, and would recommend.

So far, so good
I bought this to replace a Velken flower fountain. My cat adored the fountain and drank tons of water because of it, but I was sick and tired of the clean-up process. I found it difficult to clean it bi-weekly as it suggests, and since the outside of it looked fine I would always leave it much longer than I should have. Because the clean-up was so lengthy and difficult, I would keep putting it off, which meant the pieces were even harder to clean!I researched many fountains, but found it difficult to trust any that said they were "easy clean up" as that's exactly how my old one described itself.Eventually I decided on this one because it's cheap and see through. My thought process is that if it ends up not working, I don't feel like I'm out a lot of money. I like that it's see through so that I can add more water as it's needed -- something I felt like I was constantly struggling with with the old fountain. The water would get too low and the pump would get loud, which I'm sure was slowly degrading the pump as well. I'm also hoping it might be a bit more obvious when this needs a cleaning.I haven't cleaned it yet, and that will be the big test. I'll try to update this once I have.ALSO, if you're finding that this is too loud, switch to the extra faucet piece! It's completely silent. I don't know why the instructions don't make this clear, but I'm glad I tried it after initially thinking I'd have to return it due to the noise. Hope that helps!

Amazing for Ferrets!
I have an elderly ferret. Him (Rex) and his brother (Link, he passed last year) always had a water bowl that I would dump water and put fresh water in every night before I put them up. Same for in the morning when I let them out, I put fresh water in their water bowl that's for when they free roam. I do this for sanitary purposes. I don't like those upside down water bottles with the spout and ball because again, it's a sanitary problem. Same with those water bowls with the jug. Food, dirt, cleaner and anything else that brushes by those sits at the bottom and doesn't get cleaned. (Skip to the last paragraph to avoid backstory)Unfortunately my baby Rex has a type of tumor that grows on the bone. Usually ferrets get this tumor on the bone of their tail and vets will usually just surgically remove the tail if it's safe to do so. Rex has his bone tumor growing on his spine where his neck is, and as much as we hoped, there is just no safe way to remove the it, especially cause he's so old. So the vet prescribed us steroids for end of life care. The tumor has very slowly gotten bigger over the past year, year and half, but his quality of life is still really good! (I would not keep him around if his vets and I thought he was suffering.) About 2 or 3 months ago I noticed him starting to cough a little bit more and hack on his food. He's on a variety of different kibbles and sometimes he doesn't chew his food all the way before swallowing. With the tumor getting bigger and him coughing and hacking every once in a while I was starting to think of ways to make it easier on. I got a coffee grinder to grind up his kibble to make it easier to eat.Back to the fresh bowl of water every day, well he gets the grinded up food all over his face. (I don't wet the food because it sits out all day and its not sanitary ) And then dunks his head in the water to clean himself. It makes the water nasty 5mins after I cleaned and replaced it! Rex also gets a little snobby and if there is food in there he will come nip at me until I give him fresh water, after I literally gave him fresh water. So I got this cat fountain! And it's been so life changing for not only me but Rexy too! He loves it! He can wash off his face with the faucet. The constant water flow pushes all the food particles to the charcoal filter. The water that is coming from the faucet is always fresh. It's so incredibly easy to clean. The water lasts so long. I like the simplistic clear design. It literally is exactly what I needed!

my cats didn't like it - went back to old fountain
We found our cats preferred a previous fountain. this one seemed to get gunky way faster, and had more complicated interior parts making it harder to clean. I don't think the filters worked well - the cats would drop kibble in the fountain and the filters gunked up quickly. At least it's clear so you can SEE the gunk forming.
