Magnet is a bit weak, for the cable, and smaller than expected but nice for exhaust if the mag was stronger, need to tie your cable up or it just slips around and falls off everytime you turn around. But contacts nice,

I set it up a bit differently. Instead of purchasing one for each of my 5 machines. I decided to make this one universal. I’m sure I won’t need it for every job, so it’s good to be able to use it only when I need it. I drilled and tapped a copper pc. to take the place of the cable. This way I can drop it on the work pc. and clamp my ground to copper block. I’m sure this application won’t be for everyone but if you have multiple machines, it’s worth a try. You can always go back to using with a cable.

It worked ok for a few hours but the magnet is weak and after about 5 hours welding and not all at once but spread out about a month lost the magnet. I just ordered a Hobart magnet clamp, hopefully it’ll be better quality.

This wasn’t attached to my mig for more than 4 minutes before it broke. It was accidentally knocked off the bench and hit the ground. Yes!! This is a workshop and things fall sometimes. The magnet immediately fell out and it appears there’s just a white plastic ring that’s responsible for holding the magnet in place via friction. I’m going to struggle through the rest of the day then reattach my clamp. I’m debating if it’s even worth the hassle to send this crap back. Seriously folks, if you’re doing anything slightly above hobby welding, buy a different product. Sellers and manufacturers, consider crimping the sheet metal shroud around the magnet. Your current design doesn’t just suck. It SUCKS REALLY REALLY BAD!!!!

A lot of people don’t know about these things as a third generation welder in my family. I’m not saying I’m good at it. lol But I can weld a little bit to get by this thing is a life saver.

Always love these with magnets behind it really makes good contact. It could be used on any type of surfaces. Great item would highly recommend it. Make sure to tie everything down securely as far as the bolts nuts and so on then it takes really good affect when welding.
