The CD drive is just as advertised, and is working perfectly for my intended purpose - adding some CDs to my Apple Music library. The design with the incorporated cord, that clips into the device, and the cover makes it attractive and easy to store.

I got this external DVD drive 2 weeks ago, and tried it out extensively before writing this review. Things I like about this product: 1- It works well right out of the box. I have Windows and Linux systems, and works fine with both. I don't have Apple, but reading the instruction, that system will recognize the DVD writer once there is a disc inside. 2- It seems to be well built. It is of course made with plastic like all the other writers, so inherently fragile, but everything clicks properly. So far I have used it mostly for burning DVDs, about 12 so far, and it has done so without errors. The speed is in line with other writers. 3- The carrying case. There is another unit, that seems to be the same but without it, for a few dollars less. I suggest you buy this one, as the case is surprisingly well made, and will offer real protection. 4- The warranty. It has an 18 months warranty, already longer than most, and the company offers a free 2 years extension. I don’t know of any other company that does that. 5- It has an extra power supply cable, in case your laptop is not strong enough to power it. That must be a rare circumstance, it doesn’t take more power than others, but it is a nice touch. Things I don’t particularly like: Only one: the cable. It is short and while this is not a problem with laptops, actually could be a plus, to connect it to a usb port at the back of a tower, as suggested by the instructions, would be difficult. Also, it is hard wired to the unit, and stores very neatly in the back, a plus in that you will never lose it, a minus in that if it get damaged you cannot change it. All in all, I recommend it as it appears to be an excellent product.
