Easy to distinguish from wild-type
We used these in genetics lab for cross experiments and they are easy to distinguish from wild-type and heterozygous plants based on their leaf color. Stem color can be a little more tricky, but that is because the wild-type has variable expression with more or less purple stems. It works well when contrasted against the purple stem phenotype.
