Deliver to Taiwan

Out of print in the U.S. With the long-awaited commercial success of 1979's Secrets album, Robert Palmer had shown that his soulful, manly vocals could deliver hard rock songs as well as ballads. But Palmer didn't rest on his laurels. New wave was in its heyday, and he looked to some of the genre's leading lights for 1980's Clues. Chris Frantz of Talking Heads and Tom Tom Club contributes to the hip-shaking dance-floor hit "Looking for Clues", as does Gary Numan in Palmer's cover of Numan's niftily titled "I Dream of Wires", which almost sounds like a lost Eurythmics song. The record's biggest hit was the melancholy synth ballad "Johnny and Mary", in which Palmer jettisons his trademark rough-hewn vocals for a hushed, alien-sounding purr. "Woke Up Laughing", with its tricky time signature and infectious vocal, is one of Palmer's lesser-known but finest songs. Also of note here is Palmer's inspired, synth-heavy cover of the rarely covered Beatles chestnut "Not a Second Time". Universal.

A note about the 2011 Robert Palmer "remasters":
Unfortunately this is yet another batch of "remasters" that follows the trend of mastering the music for earbuds and not a proper stereo system. The music is compressed, tinny and shrill. The low end is virtually nonexistent. If you care about the quality of sound in your music and are a fan of Robert Palmer's catalog you would be doing yourself a disservice by getting these 2011 editions. I suggest you hunt down the original Island Records compact discs from the early 90's. They still sound quite good. I know because I went running back to them after hearing these.

Great Album - Awful Sound
I really like this Robert Palmer album and was excited to see a remastered version available. This remaster is dreadful, almost non existent bass and I own and have compared it to the original cd. If you don't own this album, I'd recommend looking for the original cd (can't see it on amazon). If you really like the album, the sound isn't dreadful enough not to buy if you really want it, but if you do own the original you're wasting your money with this one especially for the price. Most people buying remastered albums are fans of the artist and I suspect there isn't a huge audience for older albums outside of that audience. By providing inferior products to people who still pay for music, you aren't doing yourself any favours.

Great music - terrible sound quality.
Great music, terrible sound. Steer clear of these Robert Palmer reissues. I bought several and the sound quality is awful on all of them. All treble, no bass. Very tinny sound. If I hadn't taken them out of the shrinkwrap I would be returning them.

Beware!
The cover say, that this is a High Fidelity recording, but it is a very LOW FIDELITY. Very bright and no bass.Waste of money! A really disapointment.
