So happy I bought this little sharpener! My new best buddy!
The media could not be loaded. This sharpener is awesome! I can change the setting for a blunt or sharp tip on my pencils and when I need to clean the blade I just run a couple graphite pencils through at different tip settings to clean the whole blade and it works great! Remember to empty the shavings bin often because I did notice that if it tips or you use it often and shavings get up in the blades, it can muddle the blades a bit but very easy to clean right out with a paperclip. This sharpener does bite and leave teeth marks so I've been trying to configure a way to prevent this but haven't found a solution to it yet but it has saved my prismacolors a few times since it holds the pencils very straight and allows the blade to do the magic I haven't been able to with a hand sharpener. Hope this review helps people! Also, this is big enough for pastel pencils and I have tried my caran dache pastel pencils in here at a blunt setting with only 2 and a half twists about, I got the beautiful point on my pastel in the picture above. Although it can sharpen these big beauties, be sure to use graphite right after because the blades get a lot of pastel gunk on them from pastel sharpening and can act funny after if you don't clean them with a nice graphite pencil first.

The 133 is the one to get if you have average barrel sized colored pencils
I am an avid You Tuber and review all my coloring supply purchases before I buy. Dahle helix pencil sharpeners seemed to be the best for craftsmanship and price. But I always go middle price range when I'm buying anything, so the first Dahle pencil sharpener I bought was the Dahle 155. Well, It sharpened nicely BUT the "grabbers" did not hold tight enough to my smaller barreled pencils. Even though Dahle Company says it can sharpen small and large barreled pencils, the 155 is really made to sharpen larger barreled pencils, so did not grab a hold of "regular" sized barrel pencils well enough, and they actually spin in the holder! Crayola, being the smallest barrel and the hardest to sharpen because of the the wood, took the worst of it, but my Prismacolors, Castle Arts, Soucolor, etc. all have "spin" dig marks, and even my Arteza's have "bite" marks on them. In the photo, you can see the orange Crayola has a pretty deep dig mark all they way around it. The red pencil has only been sharpened in the 133 and it has no damage at all. So, I eventually got the 133, because everyone sharpening pencils in the reviews for the 133 were left with wonderfully sharpened pencils with no damage! And my 133 works like a dream! SO, I CONSIDER THE DAHLE 133 TO BE A GREAT PENCIL SHARPENER IF YOU ARE A HOBBY COLORIST LIKE MYSELF. I have less breaking of my leads than if i'm using a tiny hand sharpener, I like the small flakes of wood it shaves off, and I feel like it doesn't shave off so much of the lead as a tiny hand sharpener. If you have larger barreled pencils, I am sure the 155 will work nicely for you. I can't say for sure, but my Arteza pencils, which have a slightly larger barrel did not get the same damage as the rest of my beautiful pencils.

Incredible sharpner
For a long time now I have been hearing colorists on you tube recommended the Dahle 133 sharpener because it works so good with colored pencils , especially for pencils that tend to break when being sharpened I finally bought one, I got the Dahle 155 and it took me a few minutes to figure it out because of the way you need to load the pencil. It’s got some spring action to it and I was having to use both hands to just put the pencil in the device. I was ready to return the item due to this but I just kept messing with it until I finally figured out how to do it with just one hand. You have to press the lever on top to open the hole you put the pencil in then keeping the lever held you just push it forward with same hand. Now I love this sharpener!!! It truly is the best one I’ve tried. The crank handle can be a little hard when your sharpening the pencil but it only takes approximately 2 rotations to get a very sharp pencil. Ut has two options for the sharpness of the lead, blunt tip or sharp tip. I love this thing and HIGHLY recommended it. You won’t be sorry!!!

Best sharpener
I love this sharpener so much!! This is the second one I have bought even though the first one still works great, I didn’t want to keep taking it everywhere I went. I believe one of the best features is that after your pencil has been sharpened you will feel the blades stop eating away from the wood. That feature alone is worth it for colorists, artists, or hobbyist who put a lot of money into their pencils. The silver knob on the backside can also be adjusted to your point preference. So if you need a sharp point for details you can accomplish that as well as a more blunted point for softer applications. The clear tray pulls out smoothly for shaving disposal and it can be mounted to the desk or shelf. I will point out that the lever on the side needs to be pushed in when loading your pencil into it because this pulls the rubber discs that hold the pencil in place when sharpening back. You never want to force your pencils in always push in lever. It also works great with the square brutfuner pencils.
