What is aluminized steel?

Aluminized steel is steel that has been hot-dip coated on both sides with aluminium-silicon alloy. This process assures a tight metallurgical bond between the steel sheet and its alumInum coating, producing a material with a unique combination of properties possessed neither by steel nor by aluminium alone.

I have the Classics 8 x 8 x 8 sq pan. Is this dishwasher safe?

According to their website, below, it is dishwasher safe. But other USA bakeware is not so it is confusing. I handwash all their pans so I can't comment on the results of putting it in a dishwasher. (I don't use this one much because I find the "regular" USA pans to be far superior.) To be safe you could try calling or sending an e-mail to the company. Are the sides of this pan straight or does the pan flare out as it goes up?
