We bought this camera to check in on our dog during the day and are not disappointed. We had been using a webcam and skype for our precious setup so this is a huge improvement.The pros: fair quality video, you can aim it around the room using your smart phone, it has night vision (this has come in handy for those days when it's overcast and gloomy, and will come in handy for winter when the days here are really short), it connects itself to the wifi, you can reset the camera if it freezes on you (no waiting to do it manually when you get home), you can record right in the app if there's something going on that you want to save, you can set motion sensors that save a pic and/or notify you when it senses motion, but since this is to watch our dog, I had to turn that notification off because it was saving tons of pictures.Cons: sometimes if it freezes or the internet or power goes out and it needs to reconnect, we have found that it takes a while for it to actually get online. The green light blinks on the camera but you can't see the camera connected on your phone for several minutes; the motion sensor must be very sensitive because it would take pictures of nothing during the middle of the night when we had that feature turned on. I got a little creeped out because well, it sensed motion at all hours of the day and night (yikes 3am = Paranormal Activity situation) and snapped a picture of nothing, but I just shut off notifications and automatic recording.If you're looking for a reasonably priced camera with a ton of features and fair-good quality, try this one.

This is a non-biased, no discounted, verified purchase review.The wireless function did not work. I was able to connect and view the camera while hooked up to the Ethernet very quickly without any issues. However, the problem came every time I tried to disconnect from the Ethernet and view the camera remotely using the wifi connection. Although the camera settings indicated that the wifi was properly connected, I was never able to view the camera wirelessly. All features appeared to work as advertised when connected via Ethernet (reason for 2 stars instead of 1) but just not wirelessly. If you don't need the wireless function you should be fine.

Disclaimer: I'm a crazy horse mom. I hung this product in the sealing of my horse stall as my mare is about to foal. There is a 6" concrete wall between the stall and my router and I was certain it wouldn't work, but it actually works beautifully. My mare certainly knows the schedule at which I annoyingly check all of her vitals so this provides me a way to obsess and her be none the wiser. I love the ability to pan around the stall to follow her and I can zoom enough to even see how much she drinks (c.r.a.z.y.)I have only 2 minor complaints, but for the good price on this camera, they are very minor.1) the instructions are pathetic. While I was able to figure it out, had this been the camera my 75 year old mom bought to monitor my 90 yr old dad (for both health and mischief) she would have never figured it out2) I attached this to the ceiling ("upside down"). In order to watch the image on my phone, I have to turn my phone upside down and gently move it to a horizontal position. I can't do a lock screen from my iphone, as I want to watch the image in a horizontal fashion (and it defaults to vertical). Therefore if you close the app to lock your screen, it opens up in a default vertical. It would be great if there were an "invert" button on the app to view the image in what would normally be "upside down" (perfect when ceiling mounted).

The wi-fi option is spotty. The camera is located directly next to my wireless router and the camera disconnects frequently. Not reliable. If you elect to use the Ethernet wired option you gain reliability but you are limited to where you can place the camera unless you purchase a long wire.

Picture quality is good, controls are okay, sound is terrible. Echo present on phone and on the other side they are barely able to hear me with all the distortions.
