Pirate Puppet (FFP)

I've purchased, I think, eight or nine of these puppets for my autistic son, plus their kit for making his own puppet. For the first two or three that we received I truly had the thought, "Man, we must have gotten lucky and the person making this one was having a good day!" but have now come to see that every puppet is is made on a good day. They look really cool, are the perfect size, are made really well. I'm one of those people that believes that you get what you pay for so am still a little queasy when paying so little, but in this case you just simply get much more than you pay for. I swear that that's true. I think it's important to try and put honest pros and cons in the reviews, but despite trying really hard I can't come up with any cons. They are packaged well, shipped quickly, beautiful, high quality products...man, I can't really find anything to criticize. I feel really good every time I give them my money and I can't imagine ordering from another company that might compete with Melissa and Doug's on anything comparable. (Edit: Any time I read such a one sided review I assume that it was probably written by someone from the company selling the product. I'm not associated with this company in any way beyond being a happy customer. Honest.) Dwayne

Iam a student photographer and purchased a BUNCH of these Puppets Made "By Melissa & Doug", They are Great Quality Puppet's and will be Great to Get Kids to SMILE for My CAMERA!!! I look forward to using these and Really Had FUN Playing with them when I took them Out Of Their Moving(Shipping) BOX,lol. On this one it came to me with a defect in the Pirate Hat and I called the Company "Melissa & Doug", (info on the Tag attached to Puppet) their Customer service staff was really Friendly and wanted to make things right. I was a buyer for Relax the Back Stores & Other Retail, Did Merchandising and was in Upper Management and the customer service rep was happy to take down my feedback on all of the Puppets I received. I give the "Melissa & Doug" Company an A+ on Customer Service & an A on Quality Control. I hope this Helps you in your decision. Thanks. Gerard

My husband and I had seen these beautifully crafted puppets in our local specialty toy store and fell in love with them. They were kind of pricey, so we checked Amazon and were amazed at the low prices. We bought this pirate and the kids have so much fun playing with it. Of course, it is fun to use a pirate voice and the puppet is well crafted so that when you move its mouth and hands, it makes some really fun expressions. There is a stick attached to one of the hands so that you can do hand/arm movements as well. These are similar to the puppets I have seen in professional puppet shows. I am well pleased with the quality.

I purchased this puppet for our son for Christmas. I also purchased the "Mini Scarlet Macaw Finger Puppet" by Folkmanis to accompany him. I really like the quality of the Melissa and Doug products and Barnacle Bart is no exception. He is very well made and has so far stood up to our almost 4 year old who can at times be very destructive. If I could change anything about Bart, I would give him an additional eye with an eye-patch that you can lift up. Our son is facinated with trying to lift the patch up but it is sewn into place. That is not a complaint, just a recommendation. Something else that is very nice is that the stick that is included is removable but it attaches with velcro so that it doesn't slip out during play. Our son's pre-school teacher has the Melissa and Doug police officer, and so we also ordered one of these for her for in her classroom.

My husband and I bought five of these puppets for our two grandchildren (brother and sister) for Christmas. First let me say that when they arrived, my husband and I were amazed at the fine quality and craftsmanship of these puppets....and at such an affordable price! Needless to say, before wrapping them the kid in us came out and we had fun playing with them. On Christmas day, the whole family enjoyed playing and impersonating with the puppets and also commented on the fine quality. We also bought them the puppet theater to enhance their imagination and fun. Great gift and nice change from all the electronic toys!

The product was good but there was too much hair and the mustache was inside de it’s mouth but overall totally satisfied

I've never been disappointed by Melissa & Doug! This puppet is fun, and very well made. I got it for my son when he was 3 so he had a little trouble at first learning how to use the mouth. We removed the stick from the hand until he's able to manoeuvre it better. He is 4 now and still plays with it, and nothing as come apart or fallen off. I think it will last many more years. It seems to be best suited for ages 6+ probably bc they'll be able to do the movements with the mouth and stick. My son is not quite that coordinated yet, but still has fun with Bart!

These puppets are great interactive toys for kids just a few months old up through probably the first five years or so. I wouldn't give this to a small tot just to play with unsupervised, but for story time or parent play time with the kids it is great. As the kids get a little older they can take over the action and use their imaginations to tell you an interactive story! I have purchase the pirate and the dragon and will purchase more in the future.

Ennesima marionetta acquistata da aggiungere al già numeroso gruppo! Sono veramente entusiasta dell'acquisto effettuato! Ho comprato quasi tutta la collezione da regalare ai miei 4 bimbi (dal più piccolo al più grande, maschi e femmine) che ne sono rimasti contenti e affascinati. La fattura ed il materiale sono ottimi, così come la resistenza: ci giocano tutti i giorni, le svestono e rivestono e sono ancora come nuove. Il bastone di legno che serve per farle gesticolare, è molto resistente e facilmente removibile. Sono grandi, buffissime e assomigliano ai pupazzi dei Muppets. Seguirò sicuramente il produttore, per arricchire la serie!

got these puppets(king, surgeon and princess) for the kids, they are of excellent quality and I have started a collection(more orders as the price is really good at present, i.e. 7 pounds for the fireman), however I find the price of the theatre a bit pricey. I have no doubt like the puppets, the theatre is excellent quality, but surely 60 pounds(at time of writing) is a bit too much.

Tengo ya unas cuantas, la primera comprada en el Toys'r Us en Nueva York, y que tardé tiempo en encontrarlas en España. Son ideales para jugar con niños, muy expresivas y muy detallistas. Esta del pirata en concreto es genial, con su pañuelo al cuello, su camiseta, chaleco, el parche en el ojo y el garfio.

This puppet is amazing. The quality and detail are fabulous for it being a childrens toy. I bought it to use myself though and it fits an adult hand just fine.
