Works well
First lighter photo is of what I wanted to re-create, second photo is what it turned out looking like when I used this roller.I tried this product because I saw someone else had used it for texturing their walls and it looked like the way I wanted my wall. It came out good. I did decide to knock down the rest of the texture on the other walls because this seemed too sharp. I did my whole 600ft basement with one brush, but at the end it was falling apart. At first I mixed the dry powder texture to make this and then I bought some pre-mixed texture and it worked way better. The one I had to mix spattered everywhere, but is easy to clean up. This was easy to use and helped a novice drywall installer hide some imperfections.

Best solution for ceiling repair
This product did an awesome job for small patched areas of ceiling after having lighting and electrical work done. (The patched areas were no more than 12x12"). I did not want to use spray texture as saw unsatisfactory reviews for spray ceiling texture and opted for this roller cover instead (and also seems like a nightmare to spray upwards against gravity, too much mess and trouble for just a few small areas). Also, texture sponges were hard to find or overpriced.Tip - To ensure consistent coverage and texture pattern, don't use this roller to apply mud to the surface (use the roller just to create texture). With a putty knife, I applied watered down joint compound to the area, then used the roller to add the texture. Apply a little pressure for a consistent texture pattern. When you water down the joint compound, make it slightly thicker or close to pancake batter consistency. Using this roller to add texture will give you peaks. If you don't want this, then you will have to knock it down - but I recommend waiting until it dries, otherwise it will smooth out too quickly and you may lose the texture. I used a damp microfiber rag to knock it down, gentle pressure and slowly until the texture matched the surrounding area. This roller should not splatter product if you roll slowly. Rinse it right away when you are done. Works great for small areas, but obviously, the round roller can't get into corners.I did not use this for walls, however, after previously using spray texture to patch walls, in hindsight, would use this roller instead, not as messy as spray and it would have been a good match for existing texture on my walls.

Excellent for adding texture to drywall!
I bought these rolls specifically to do some drywall finishing. I built a wall and needed to add texture. As I was deciding on whether to buy a drywall blower to blow the mud, or do it manually using these rollers, I decided to go for the latter since my project was fairly small. Reading the reviews here, convinced me to try these rollers. Initially, I had tried regular paint rolls (1/2 and 3/4 nap) but they did not work well. I then tried these rollers and they worked perfectly. The trick is to make sure you get the mud to the right consistency. The more water you add, the smoother and larger the orange peel effect will be. The less water, the spikier the texture. Make sure you test on a scrap piece until you get the texture you want. In my case, I also scraped the texture once dried, to remove any sharpness. Depending on the area, you might need to use multiple rollers. I found that after some time, little pieces of the roller came off. Overall, however, I am extremely satisfied with these rollers.

Works great for wall texture
I used it for texturing a bedroom in a house we just bought. Thinned down the light wall compound (about like pancake batter) and put about 1/8 in on wall with trowel, working about 4 to 6 sq ft at a time. I then went over the mud with the texture roller until it looked right. A couple of days later I lightly scraped the sharp points off of the texture with a 6 inch trowel and painted....Looks great! The roller holds up really well. To clean it I took it outside and sprayed it off with garden hose, and it still looks like new. There is a video on youtube showing how to do the texture.

Decent orange peel texture
It makes decent wall texture. Sometimes comes out pointy instead of rounded.

Makes a great finished texture on walls and ceilings
Roller was used to apply texture to sheetrock. Once ya get the mud to right consistency you end up with an awesome look similar to orange peel. It was easier to apply mud first in bout 16 sq. feet sections. After it dried I just ran a 10 inch mudders knife across for the knock down step.

Perfect for creating orange peel texture
After patching a hole in the wall, I used this roller cover to match the orange peel texture on the wall. I kept going over the same area to create smaller texture and then sanded lightly. It worked perfectly. I used it on my ceilings and it worked well too.

worked great! Just be sure to order more than one ...
Used this for texturing walls, worked great! Just be sure to order more than one in case something happens to it or if you need more than one person using it. A replacement was impossible to find in stores.
