After numerous unsuccessful attempts at making poached eggs, I broke down and bought this pan even though I've been trying to cut back on more specialty tools for the kitchen. I'm so glad I did. I'm now eating perfect and delicious poached eggs about 3 times a week. . The clean up is easy even though I don't put the pan in the dishwasher. It comes with a nifty spatula that is the perfect size for sliding the eggs out and the extra cups come in handy when you have extra guests. The pan is a nice weight and good quality. I'll be buying more of these to give as gifts.

I'm definitely glad that I spent a little extra and bought this poacher. The quality is very good. It's stainless steel, hefty, and built to last. By coating the egg pans with a very thin application of butter, the eggs slide out effortlessly when done. I am totally satisfied with this purchase and would gladly buy it again.

Finally something that makes poached eggs without a tedious cleanup. I have the 4 egg model and have only one issue with this item. The backside of the egg cup holder has sharp edges and can cause a cut to fingers if you are not careful when you clean it. I actually got a very small cut in the crease of one finger the first day I used it. The cleaning only requires a rinse and towel drying since it only comes in contact with boiling water unless you are a messy cook and spill egg or don’t use it as designed. The only part that needs any close attention to cleaning are the egg cups. Rinse with hot water and wipe dry and ready to use again. Length of cooking time of just 15 seconds can result in a poached egg just the way you want it or a little under or over cooked to your liking. I have found that exactly 5 minutes of poaching time makes eggs with semi-soft (and just a tad of runny) yolk. Perfect for me and fits on an English muffin perfectly. I even purchased some hollandaise sauce to spoon onto them. Oh, so good in the morning. Use a tiny bit of butter in the egg cup (which is non-stick anyways) and have had no sticking issues after going thru two dozen eggs. So as mentioned earlier they only need a hot rinse and wipe dry. Note that when removing the poached eggs from the cups you should tilt the cup slightly onto some paper towel as a little water condenses into the egg cup while cooking. Just a drop or two but I prefer not to have it mixed in when I put them onto an English muffin. Also be careful when handling any parts after cooking is done. Everything, even the little knobs for picking the cups and cup holder up are very HOT. Use a little paper towel, pot holders are too large & clumsy, or kitchen gloves (is there such a thing as kitchen gloves? If not someone should invent some). Bottom line…..makes perfect poached eggs, easy cleanup, so it would get 5 stars but for the sharp edges issue. If the manufacturer makes production changes to eliminate the sharp edges then it would get a solid 5 stars.

I have owned a number of mediocre and cheaply made egg poachers that have deteriorated in no time at all. The Eggssentials egg poacher is by far the best egg poacher I have ever owned. It is solidly made out of high grade stainless steel with a thick aluminum base. The deep non-stick egg cups are perfect for extra large eggs.
