CADILLAC... 'Yes', these are some of the best - MANUAL pencil sharpener's manufactured, on the planet. 'No', there is NO bin/container to catch your shavings in [if your looking for that ‘feature’, look another place]... You HOLD IT OVER your trash can or bin AND catch the shaving that way... It's 'old school' - ‘classic’ pencil sharpener, okay. However in return, for this/that minor inconvenience, you are going to find, you’ll get one of the cleanest - smoothest - sharpened wood-shafted pencils, in your writing/art/craft/pencil box you own. The blade is ‘razor sharp’ German manufactured steel [no Chinese stuff here] - AND you’ll find you can sharpen 100's and 100's of pencils, before having to even think of replacing the blade [and ‘yes’, replacement blades are out there for these]. I’ve acouple different styled M+R sharpeners - One’s pushing 30 yrs old and it still sharpens like the day I got it [go figure]. The Brass body on this sharpener has nice ‘weight’ to it; making it easy to hold and balance in your hands; it’s simple comfortable - And I’ve large-slender hands [with arthritis, too], and I’ve never had any ‘issues’ sharpening standard size and over-sized pencils, with an M+R sharpener. Their quality and detail with these is excellent...craftsmanship superb...materials excellent and they’ll last more then ‘your’ lifetime, under normal usage. My primary reason for this purchase, was I wanted a ‘sharpen’ on my pencils [use colored pencils for artwork], with more of a ‘medium-fine’ point - Not a ‘needle’, liked by many in the field. AND this style performs exceptionally well on producing that type of a lead point. I’ve never had an ‘issue’ on achieving any desired point, with an M+R sharpener; even with a ‘cheapy’ produced pencil, one can get results... As to ‘child-safe’... My 22 yr old Grand-daughter, started using an M+R sharpener before five - She still has ALL her fingers. My soon to be nine yr old Grand-son, has been using an M+R sharpener since before five and has yet, to incur an injury... Between four children and 8+ grandkids, there’s never been an ‘issue’ with a pencil sharpener about here. For around 10 bucks, I’ve no complaint with M+R and with this latest purchase. You could spend less and buy a cheaper sharpener... It’s what you want and/or need, is my thought. However, if you want a pencil sharpener, that’s going to ‘point’ your pencil and do an excellent job at it, then this you might seriously consider one of these. This is a Great little tool. It is effective, small, and elegant. It is easy to use and sharpens a pencil to a very smooth point. Love it!

I saw this used by a sketch artist on You Tube. I just got it and I love it. I do have a nice electric sharpener that I like. But this is easily portable. I also saw a You Tube person mention that she used a manual pencil sharpener on her color pencils to keep their lead from breaking. I've encountered that problem a lot with my colored pencils. This works great, gives a nice sharp point. I also love that it's not plastic. This is well constructed and hefty.

Super good quality and fine German steel. I get clean, sharp tips every time with no lead breakage. The only downside is the size. I wish it had more heft

Fantastic tool..sharp and efficient...I draw every day and can't be without it..sharpens perfectly...no regrets, only praise...and replaceable blades available!..what could be better?...buy this one! You won't be sorry.

This is a good bullet sharpener for my art pencils. Gives me a sharp pencil and no more wasting my pencils. Works well.

The product is good, solid brass sharpener. The quality is superb and can work for many years. The seller stated in the description that there will be four sharpeners instead when the package arrived there was only one. I found that this description will be misleading the buyers, hence caveat emptor. The description clearly says 4 where as only 1 item was received.

The best sharpener I have ever had for pastel pencils. Love, love love.
