I recently purchased the Tool Guy Republic Forged Chrome Vanadium Oil Filter, and let me tell you, it's a game-changer! It worked well and removed the Toyota oil filter housing with minimal risk of slipping or rounding one of the three tabs on the housing. You will need a 1/2-inch ratchet or a breaker bar. It is a bit pricey , but it is worth purchasing because it is made from durable materials and is unlikely to break under load.

Trust me this thing is a beast. It has a solid heavy feel and weight. It feels like a giant metal socket. At the dealership I work at this is the best cartridge oil filter tool in the shop. Other Toyota branded tools will slip off or crack the tabs on the housing, but this one will not. This thing works great on the cars that come in from outside shops where they overtighten the oil filters, this tool takes them off easy. It does is a 1/2in drive breaker bar / rachet but a 1/2 - 3/8 adapter works great as well. You will not regret buying this. You have no excuse not to buy this tool. All other oil filter tools are a waste of time. This tool fits F1, F2 Toyota style disposable metal filters. It will not fit D3 or D1 style disposable metal filters from toyota v6/v8 engines like the 1mzfe, 2mzfe, 3vzfe, 1grfe,1urfe aka :(v6 sienna,v6 / v8 tundra,v6 tacoma,v6 Camry/ Avalon) this filter will work for all 4 cylinder Toyota engines with the disposable or reusable metal / plastic filter housing, and will work with any v6 / v8 Toyota engine which as a reusable oil filter housing. Trust me this tool feels like a giant heavy socket, I think it is made in China but it is built better than any "made in usa" Toyota oil filter tools.

Finally, a tool that's both good value and has good build quality. Fits both styles of Toyota oil filter housings. Comparable to the Blue Point/Snap-On version. If you're tired of breaking the cheaper, off-brand tools w/ even cheaper build quality, get this tool.

I had an over-torqued oil filter housing on my Lexus. Could not get it off with the Aluminium "Tab Based" tool. This slots in nicely and allowed me to put a breaker bar on it, and get it loose very easily. Recommended.

This Socket works excellently for insert type filters, like most Toyotas, with 64mm housings...doesnt stick on to the housing, like every other one I have....lost a few that way... But not quite as good on the self-contained spin-on 64 mm filters...seems just a tad loose, and can slip on a real tight filter. I'm going to try to tighten it up a bit with a laver of electrical tape on the contact surface, since I do more spin-ons, and I think it will still work on the housing-type. It's very heavy duty with a fine finish, and a pleasure to use. I would rather have a 3/8 drive than this 1/2" drive, but it works great with a adapter I have. So, Almost Perfect.

Great tool to use and doesn't slip or break even when used with very heavy force. Recommend for every mechanic to own one of these.
