Feather Stainless Steel Double Edge Razor AS D2

I’ve been using an Edwin Jagger (Plaza) for years, and like it, but thought I’d treat myself to a new razor; all the reviews suggest the Feather is one of the best, although expensive, but I went for it. Used it for the first time today. It arrives in a nice box, with a pack of 5 blades. Feedback: “Interesting”. The shave is not as aggressive as the Jagger, leaves tracks of the shaving cream on your face, where the Jagger leaves nothing behind; but as I finished up, I was surprised that the shave felt closer - so perhaps the Feather blades are far sharper than my Gillette 7s, and despite it feeling not as close when you’re shaving, it actually is, & more comfortable. Is it worth the money? It’s nice, has a timeless design & looks like it’ll last a lifetime, and shaves well. There are cheaper options that will do as good a job I think, like driving an Aston Martin or a Toyota Corolla...both will get you where you’re going, & in the same time if you drive the same speed...but...

This is a mild razor, comparable to a Henson AL13, except it is made of stainless steel. It works best with a very sharp razor blade - I use Feather shaving blades with this razor and get a very smooth, efficient shave with no nicks or cuts or razor burn. The razor is very well made and it is well machined - the tactile feel while holding it and while shaving is very good. The handle is nice and grippy and long enough to maintain a nice even pressure while shaving. I can see this razor lasting for generations and am very happy with this purchase.

I do not write any review but when i tried this razor i fall in love with it its a masterpiece. No nicks and cuts so far.

I purchased this after using a Merkur 34C for my DE shaving. I didn't use the Feather blades that came with it yet. Instead, I used some Astra blades, since that's what I was using with the Merkur, and I wanted to compare apples to apples. I've read that this razor needs to be held with the handle 45 degrees to the face, rather than 30 degrees like most razors. So I did that, and I was blown away with the quality of the shave. I usually do three passes. One with the grain, one across, one against. I started doing the against pass, and I couldn't feel or hear it cutting anything. I thought I was just holding it wrong, but then I realized there was nothing left to cut! Maybe I'm just better at holding a razor at 45 degrees rather than 30, but I guess that's the point. The razor is remarkably easy to use, and though it's a mild razor, it took care of my coarse neck hair no problem. I can honestly say it's the smoothest my neck has ever felt. Holding this razor, feeling how seamlessly the three pieces line up, you can tell that it was made with exceptional precision and care. Blade exposure is equal on both sides with no fiddling with it as you clamp it down. It's all stainless steel, and it WILL last you a lifetime. If you pass it down to your son, it will last him a lifetime. The price is certainly steep, but it's absolutely worth it. Since it's not listed in the description, I can confirm that this is the AS-D2 model.
