This ingredient list is "sodium bentonite clay" where other brands show as "calcium bentonite clay (green clay)" What is the difference?

The difference is the cation (Sodium or Ca) that fills the interlayer of clay. There is no difference in the absorbance, both absorb because both are bentonites (i.e. smectites). But when you add water one will release Na and the other one will release Ca, among many other elements (that is why it is important to make sure that the clays are pure). Some people claim that Na can help with digestive issues, such as diarrhea.

How do you use this on your hair?

One or two weeks after receiving this I received an email from the company which had different recipes for the clay this is one of those recipes in the email: Clay and Eggs Strengthening Hair MaskEgg yolk is packed with nutrients and glossers and is one of the best ways to add strength and shine to your hair. Mix 5 tablespoons of your Molivera Organics Bentonite Clay with 10 tablespoons of Apple Cider Vinegar, 1 egg yolk, and 2 tablespoons of Virgin Coconut Oil. Apply thoroughly covering all of your hair strands. Allow to sit on hair for a minimum 30 mins. With warm water, rinse the clay thoroughly and completely out of hair. Then apply your favorite conditioner. You will feel and see the difference.

How do I mix without having a clumpy consistency?

I have found that I get a better consistency when using the apple cider vinigear over water. I use this for my face, so I only use a table spoon of clay. I add the vinigear slowly while I mix until I get a good consistency. Literally a few drops at a time.
