Lansky Deluxe 5-Stone Sharpening System

I bought a Lansky system in about 1990 and used it to keep kitchen knives sharp enough to shave my arm for almost 25 years..... Same knives, same stones. Alas, all good things come to an end and the stones were completely worn out. I bought this ‘deluxe’ system to replace the previous kit which was not ‘deluxe’ but had the same 5 stones. From a robust, solid system to a cheap toy.!! The stones are poor quality and too narrow so they flip over on the sharpening stroke - something that never happened to me before. The guide bars used to be embedded in the plastic stone holder - now they are finicky bars you have to install every time, and according to the instructions, ensure they are perfectly aligned etc etc. The knife grip is the same as before except flimsy. The stones are rough - they don’t glide across the blades if that makes sense. And the best part, I can’t come close to the sharp knives I used to have (and still own). I suppose it can be expected that I should pay almost 3 times the price after nearly 30 years, but I would have hoped there were some improvements to the original design instead of a significantly downgraded system. Unfortunately, I did read some comments about the poor and cheap quality, but I was thinking those reviewers were just being difficult, and bought these anyway...shame on me!
