UK collection from the British R&B outfit. The trio was founded in 1980 by Steve Nichol after he left the London Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where he received extensive classical training. Nichol received the Young Musician Of The Year Award at age 16. Nichol went on to tour with The Jam in 1982 as a trumpet, trombone and keyboard player. He was also a composer for Rakim, Carl Cox, Phyllis Hyman and other various artists. Most of Loose Ends’ material was also written and supplied by Nichol. The band also featured vocalist and guitarist Carl McIntosh and vocalist Jane Eugene. Review: Just like it sounded back in the day! - It took me probably over 20 years before I stumbled across this group on youtube which brought flooding back some memories of my youth, and how I felt in those days. The quality of the sound of Hangin on a string, and Slow down, is an excellent resampling, and I can play the songs the way they were originally intended. On my huge, Mach II speakers with thier 15 inch woofer drivers, through my excellent quality receiver of around the time when this song came out! For those of this day and age, you may not understand what I mean, but your Ipod, small speakes of the day, and cheap and poorly produced amplifier may not do these songs justice. Review: Best of Shalamar CD set. - They arrived right as scheduled. My wife and I enjoy listening to them. Great quality. Thanks.

Still worth the money
I was so excited to get this CD through the mail and it did not take long. When I heard all the songs, it felt like the good old days listening to R&B songs when you did not have to hear so much rap mixed in to help the songs. Loose Ends songs never needed any assistance. I gave 5 stars because this CD is an awesome purchase but there was a down side, some of the songs did not sound as loud as others on the cd. Seem more like someone taped them and put them on this cd so I just do not feel like this was a real original cd purchase.

Loved this group!
This group did not get anywhere near enough play in the 80's. There was still Soul left in R&B and this group had it in spades. To this day, Hangin' On A String remains one of my personal fave songs. I had never heard their cover of Golden Years & I love it. Watching You is another winner that i never got tired of. If you were a fan of Loose Ends, this CD is a must have

Many of us remember the 80s as a time of experimentation. For instance, how many musical instruments could be played electronically! This album reflects the electronic music of those days. I couldn't call this soul music, but it certainly had an R&B flavour of its own. Loose Ends were around for a while, then seemed to disappear over the horizon, like so many good singing groups in those days. Their huge Hangin' On A String is probably the most remembered song from this listing. Magic Touch holds its own as well. The rest? Well, I had a quick listen to the .mp3 offerings and was very surprised to find that indeed, Golden Years WAS the remake of the David Bowie classic, as someone else picked up on the reviewers panel here. It's all good music, and an album I know I'll come to love the more I hear it.

Avec tous ces tubes, un retour dans une période exceptionnelle où il y avait de la très bonne musique et d'excellents interprètes.
