Another great expansion for Cosmic Encounters, adds more aliens and more fun to an already fun game...A must buy to complete any collection

This is probably my favourite or second favourite cosmic encounter expansion thus far. All of the aliens are extremely inventive and bring a lot of game changing unique powers to the table. However, despite this glowing review i'd only recommend it to diehard fans, experienced players, or those ok with a complicated experience. Almost all of the aliens have red or yellow bulbs (the difficulty indicators) and the ones that have greens feel more like consolation additions rather than ones added to add something to the game. Additionally, the red bulb aliens have some of the longest card descriptions to date (i've linked two of the longest ones below). The addition of the essence card decks for certain aliens is amazing fun, and i'm surprised it took them until now to figure them out. The alliance dials are the other big seller. Some people swear by them and say they are necessary- I think that they are probably the second best addition behind the defensive reward deck, but change alliances too much to be called a 100% use rate. Keep in mind that the original alliance style uses a turn order, so people later on could base their decision on seeing who else allies. Now its a hidden "all at once" flip, with some additional rules to spice things up. Do I think the new alliance style is better than the old? Yes. But its two different playstyles, and far from "absolutely necessary".

Good expansion for adding some more interesting characters to the base game.
