Unbeatable After 17 Years of Testing - Still the King of Kitchen Roll
Over the past 17 years, we’ve tried every kitchen paper towel we could get our hands on—literally. From budget supermarket options to premium eco-friendly brands, we’ve sampled and stress-tested them all. One weekend, in what can only be described as a slightly unhinged home lab experiment, we bought 15 different paper towel brands and conducted a full blind test: spill absorption, durability, lint shedding, wet tearing, scrubbing strength, and sheet size were all evaluated. At the end of all that, one brand stood clearly above the rest—Regina Blitz. This isn't just good kitchen roll. This is the kitchen roll. The 3-ply design isn’t marketing fluff—it makes a real difference. You can feel the thickness as soon as you tear off a sheet. These towels absorb large spills in one go and hold together when scrubbing something sticky, greasy, or stubborn. We’ve used them for cleaning kitchen surfaces, wiping down appliances, soaking up oil, polishing windows, drying fruit and veg, and even blotting up pet messes. No tearing, no smearing, no need to double up sheets. Once you use these, anything thinner feels like using tracing paper in comparison. We’ve tested Regina Blitz in different real-world scenarios, and in every single one, it’s delivered far beyond expectations. First up, the classic kitchen spill. Whether it’s an overboiled pan or a puddle of milk, these sheets absorb fast and efficiently. You don’t need to keep dabbing the area—it’s often just a single sheet per incident. When we had a bottle of soy sauce fall off a shelf and shatter on the floor, the Blitz handled the dark, salty chaos like it was nothing. It soaked up the liquid without bleeding through and didn’t tear once.Next, we put it to work cleaning glass. We’ve tried countless paper towels for windows and mirrors, and most leave streaks or lint. Regina Blitz gives a nearly cloth-like polish. Paired with a basic vinegar-water solution, it delivers a clear, gleam finish without needing a follow-up wipe. We’ve also used it on glossy black kitchen appliances, the type that usually smudge if you so much as breathe near them, and the result is always spotless.Another surprising win was its performance on grease. Cleaning the inside of an air fryer basket is a nasty job—but Regina Blitz doesn’t shy away. We used it with a dab of degreaser and one towel removed the oily film without disintegrating. That same sheet even held together when rinsed and wrung out, something most kitchen rolls would never survive. Similarly, during a late-night fish and chips clean-up session, Blitz handled both the grease and the residual crumbs in one go.It became our go-to for drying fruit and vegetables. After washing herbs, berries, or greens, we usually lay them out on a clean surface lined with paper towels. Regina Blitz is the only roll strong and absorbent enough to dry produce properly without disintegrating under the moisture. We’ve even used it to dry tofu cubes before frying, and it wicked away the excess water with no fuss.We use it in our car detailing kit too—interior screens, dusty dashboards, and even alloy wheels. It’s soft enough for screens but strong enough to deal with road grime and brake dust. Even after getting soaked with tyre cleaner, the towels don’t rip or leave particles behind. On leather seats, we’ve used it with a conditioning spray, and it buffs gently and evenly without scratching or shedding. In the workshop, Blitz came in handy for drying tools, cleaning up glue, and catching splashes of varnish. It resists tearing when wet, so it can be used for light wiping of brushes and palettes between colour changes. We’ve wiped down chisels, wrapped oily pliers for temporary storage, and used it to mop up sawdust. Each time, the roll handled moisture and grit better than rags or traditional shop towels. On DIY jobs, we used Regina Blitz to clean up grout and silicone residue. Anyone who’s tried that knows how sticky and clingy those materials can be. The sheets held their shape and didn’t stick to the sealant, giving us better control and less waste. After sanding drywall, the Blitz worked to pick up the fine powder without disintegrating—unusual for any paper product. At the dining table, we’ve used these as makeshift napkins, especially for messy meals like wings or ribs. They’re soft enough on the skin but thick enough to handle sauce and bone grease. They’ve even stood in as coasters when things got chaotic, with drinks being served faster than we could find mats. No soaked-through marks on the table, and no soggy paper trail. We even experimented with it for temporary pet clean-up. When one of our cats had a small accident, we grabbed Regina Blitz, expecting it to fall apart like every other roll had in that situation. Not only did it handle the mess, but it also worked well with enzyme sprays to clean and blot the area dry without disintegrating mid-wipe. It’s not marketed as pet-tough, but it should be.Another standout scenario? Polishing silverware and stainless steel. The Blitz doesn’t just clean—it buffs. You can apply polish directly to it, and it glides along surfaces without grabbing or catching. No tearing around the edges of forks or knives either. In the same vein, we’ve used it on our espresso machine’s drip tray and steam wand, which get sticky and splattered—Blitz clears it all in seconds. In our art and craft projects, Regina Blitz has been a hidden gem. We’ve used it for blotting watercolours, drying brushes, and cleaning up glue spills. In one case, we even folded it to make a temporary pad for pressing lino prints, and it held up under pressure without breaking apart. It’s absorbent enough for water but tough enough to press and blot with.We used it to cover a bowl of proving dough when we ran out of clean cloths—it didn’t shed fibres into the dough or go soggy from steam. In fact, the towel held enough moisture to keep the dough from drying out while still allowing it to rise, making it a surprisingly useful baking companion. Another time, we used it to wrap herbs for storage. After wetting and wringing it out slightly, it kept the herbs crisp in the fridge for days longer than expected.Even outside, during a garden BBQ, Regina Blitz held up to barbecue sauce, greasy fingers, condensation from drinks, and grill prep. We used it to clean off BBQ tools, cover a plate of burgers, and even line a makeshift serving tray. There were strong winds, and the heavy ply meant it didn’t blow away like other kitchen paper often does.We tried using it as a polishing cloth on shoes during a quick clean before heading out. Paired with a bit of polish, it did a neat job without linting or smearing. And once, during a candle wax spill emergency, it picked up most of the warm wax before it hardened—something we genuinely didn’t expect paper to manage. We’ve even used it in the bathroom to clean mirrors and polish chrome taps. Water marks and toothpaste splashes are gone in one wipe, and the 3-ply doesn’t soak through on contact like most rolls do. With a good cleaner or just hot water, Blitz handles even hard water residue surprisingly well.Material-wise, Regina Blitz feels like it's been engineered to solve the problems you didn’t even know you had. There’s a balance of softness and toughness that makes them ideal for delicate surfaces like glass and high-gloss finishes, but also rugged enough to clean burnt-on residue from a hob or oven tray. The absorbency is absolutely unmatched—if you’ve used these to clean up cooking oil, you’ll know what I mean. They hold so much liquid that you often forget it's just paper.Another standout feature is sheet size. Each sheet is massive. This is one of the few minor caveats we’ve come across: there’s no perforation to split a sheet in half easily. It would be nice to have a “half-sheet” option for smaller tasks to avoid waste. That said, we’ve taken to cutting sheets with scissors when necessary and storing them folded in a drawer, so it's a very solvable quirk. If you only need a quick dab for something minor, you'll find yourself tearing or folding one sheet into smaller usable pieces. But honestly, the size becomes a benefit most of the time—especially when you’re dealing with bigger clean-up jobs. We’ve seen people complain about the price, and yes, Regina Blitz is not the cheapest kitchen roll out there. But if you do the math, the price-per-use ends up being more than fair. You need fewer sheets to get a job done, and the rolls last far longer. We’ve had individual rolls last weeks with daily use, especially when compared to cheaper options that require three or four sheets per spill. We’ve tried cheaper brands that claim to be “extra strong” or “super absorbent”, and none have come close. Once wet, most start breaking apart or smearing rather than cleaning. Blitz doesn’t. It performs under pressure—literally. We've also found the quality control to be very consistent over the years. Every box we’ve bought (and there have been many) has delivered the same experience: sturdy cardboard packaging, sealed rolls, consistent texture and thickness, and the same great results. We've never had a roll that felt subpar or "off". It’s refreshing in a world where product quality often slips after a few successful years. For those who care about aesthetics and storage: the design is clean and neutral, which helps if you leave the roll out on a counter or mounted in a visible spot. The 24-pack comes in a fairly large box, so be prepared to dedicate some cupboard or garage space to it—but it’s worth the bulk buy. You save significantly over time and avoid the dreaded situation of running out mid-clean.We've recommended Regina Blitz to friends, family, and even local businesses, and the feedback is always the same: "Where has this been all my life?" Some have even gone back to test their former favourites out of curiosity, only to admit they’d never go back. It spoils you for anything else. It’s worth mentioning that the product is also relatively low-lint compared to most 3-ply alternatives. When wiping glass or stainless steel, we rarely notice any residue or fibres left behind. We’ve even used these in our detailing kit for car interiors, thanks to the strength and size of each sheet. The lint-free aspect is especially useful when cleaning up spills on electronics or near mechanical components. If there’s a single regret we’ve had over all these years of use, it’s that we didn’t start bulk ordering Regina Blitz sooner. For a high-use household or a small business—be it a kitchen, workshop, or cleaning service—this is easily one of the best investments you can make in your supplies.Regina Blitz isn’t just a paper towel—it’s a workhorse, a staple, and arguably the gold standard. While others may look cheaper on the surface, nothing we’ve tested has matched this product in terms of durability, absorption, consistency, and raw performance. If they ever release a version with perforated half-sheets, that might be the only way this could be improved. Until then, scissors will do—and we’ll continue using Regina Blitz as our top pick, just like we have for almost two decades.

Good size sheets, reasonable price, do a good job
We use these, together with normal blue cloth, for general kitchen use. They absorb liquids well, including cooking oil, they are quite strong for paper towels, so do the job. The missing star is caused by the perforation between sheets being a bit too strong in some rolls, causing the towels to tear rather than come off cleanly, which is not what you want when you need a kitchen towel 3 seconds ago :-).
