Excellent filter for an excellent water drinking system!
Excellent water filter! Very expensive, but worth it, It (in combination with the other filter that I bought) does a great job at what no other system and filter can. Love my Berkey!!!

B Berkey filters are the best for it. If you try cheaper ones it won’t last long.
Arrived in mint condition. Works perfectly. Great quality filters.

Crystal Clear and no more plastic bottles.
replacements for my Berkey Filter, this was an essential item for post Hurricane Melissa when the water sources were questionable and we were using run off water from our roof to the underground tank, ran the tank water through the Berkey and it tastes great and no problems, unlimited drinking water. We have the large Berkey so even with a large household we never run out, water is crystal clear. no more plastic bottles!!!

I have been using a Berkley now for some time and am very happy with it
Tough enough for Asia. Water treatment (at the source plant) is improving in much of Asia but you can't be certain that contaminants wont get into the reticulation system before your tap. I have been using a Berkey now for some time and am very happy with it. To be sure, I have read some of the concerns and I've concluded that in area, where water could be truly contaminated from time to time, you need to build some redundancy in. First I put the drinking water through a standard 10 inch 1 micro sediment filter. These are cheap and readily available in hardware stores. If out of 1 micron then 5 micron will suffice. Second, I fill my Berkey from a sealed plastic container. I fill that from the 10in filter and put a few drops of plain bleach in it and let stand for at least an hour before filling the Berkey from it. This is enough on its own , btw, to make your water safe, but it will taste bad from the chlorine. It also solves the problems of adding contaminants yourself as you are handling water to your Berkley. Third I do the red dye test on the Berkey ever 6 months or so to make sure nothing has broken down in the Berkley - the red dye wont get through if the Berkley filter / seals are working well My logic is that the Berkey, when working properly , is actually good enough to deliver safe water, even here. However with these simple and very inexpensive backup measures my most precious resource is now as close to failsafe as possible. Sounds stupid, but the only water I enjoy drinking now is out of a Berkey - at room temperature.

Never let me down but filters get super clogged now
been using it for 10 years now and it works amazingly, but all the sudden the black filters get so clogged that they don’t drain anymore and I have to not only scrub but shoot water through them, which is a pain because it gets water all over the kitchen. They used to not do that so maybe it’s the place I live now?

Worked well for Florida water
We used this in a knock off Berkey water tank. Worked well. No issues removing the "Florida taste" from the water down there. We used it for a single winter without issue. Will be using again for a second season. I just dried them very well last year, so fingers crossed. If you can get 3-5 winter seasons out of this, than it is definitely worth the cost. Priming was a little tough. Tried the pay for extra primer, but pressuring the including filter ring around a bathroom faucet was the best solution for us. It wound up priming the filters within 5-10 seconds. Overall great product to have fresh clean water in Florida. Update: Season 2 in Florida and it still works great. I just dried them out very well last year and then primed them again this year. Florida water has a good taste again. Hoping this will last several years only using it a few months a year. Update: Season 4 is still going strong. The flow is slowing down a little meaning it takes a little longer to filter the water, but it is still clean and good tasting. I've looked at the current prices and I can't believe the increase in 4 years. I think I will try to make mine last a little longer. :)

We bought our Berkey in 2006 and never used it. We kept it for emergencies. When we moved to the PNW a year ago, we were on a well with high sulfur content - makes for NASTY HEADACHES (made it feel like our brains were swelling) especially when you are allergic to sulfur. We pulled out the Berkey and within 2 weeks were headache free after 2 months of suffering. The two filters that came with the Berkey had worked perfect, and we have added in 6 more (we have a family of 10, so lots of water needed). What I've found is we do get slime on the filters and you know it is building because the water filtration decreases. About every 6 weeks I take them out and clean them carefully, reassemble and the filtration works really well. We're into year 2 with the same 8 filters, including the two from 2006, and no problems. I also figured out an easier way to prime the filters - use a small straw (looks like a cocktail straw) and place them into the filter and HOLD IT. Then use a 35 cc syringe without a needle, you can get these online or through a vet, feed store, etc. The straw goes into the chamber and as you push the syringe of water through the straw, the water level inside rises and releases air around the straw. Fastest, least messiest way to fill the chambers ever - works incredibly well and uses much less water to prime the filters with. The filters themselves work great - if it weren't for the Berkey I would be in serious trouble with the crippling headaches I had from the water here. Berkey's aren't supposed to remove sulfur that much apparently, but they do, so I am really really happy with them. Not one single problem yet with the filters. I do have backup filters just in case, never know when we might need them, but hopefully we can keep using the ones we have for a while.

Wonderfull and long life product, I've got mine more than one year ago and it works fine because I forgot it. I used it every day and nothing to say , it workss like a charme. Well, I never try to filter salt water or something like waste water but taste water from that filter is perfect for us . When I reveived it I've performing the red dye test and amazingly the water is came out clear as a bell. I knew I would really love this product. Seller is very fast. Here's a toast to Berkey.

These are part of the new filtering system we bought. Water tastes so “soft” and good. The only drawback is that it needs to be cleaned after a while Because it gets clogged (depends on the quality of the tap water you are filtering). The cleaning is a bit messy (water everywhere), but for the quality of filtered water we get, it’s really worth the mess.
