Is this grainy paper or like printer paper?

This is definitely more like printer paper. More flimsy even. I was concerned about the same thing, saw the other answers and ordered it. Perhaps they've changed the paper since the other answers were written, but it's definitely nothing more than plain white printer paper. I was really disappointed.

is this paper heavy great would work for pencial and pens?

Yes paper is heavy enough to handle color pencils, markers and even some watercolor although papers gets warped a little.

Comes with 3 and way better than using my printer paper.

My daughter loves to draw and this is a perfect fit for her. She's 6 years old and way better than taking my printing paper and having it all over the house.

Thin paper not great for markers

Great value, but keep in mind that the paper is really thin. Works great with crayon and colored pencils, but markers not so much. My daughter typically makes holes in the paper when drawing with marker in the same spot and it gets damp. For this reason, I had to switch back to the Melissa and Doug sketch pad.
