Why do the questions get intermingled with different products? i was going pass on it due one of the answers stating it was a 48v poe.

Because that's the way Amazon does things. For this (and other) reason(s) you should not rely on these answers, but instead examine the specifications for the exact device you are about to purchase.

Does it work to power the Edgerouter X?

No. Edgerouter X is a 24v device and this is a 48v injector.

Is the male end of the A/C power cord a wall wart?

Depends on which one of these products you're buying. On the TP-Link website, the 60W picture shows that the device has an internal power supply. The 15W that I purchased uses a wall wart.

Is it compatible with netgear wac510pa-100nas?

The netgear wac510pa-100nas has one Lan output if you want to use that to go to the POE switch yes it will power a POE IP camera
