Pictured is my old armature, circa 1969, which was used with points & condenser on a B&S 80292 0197 3hp engine. My tiller was one step from the scrap heap but I tried this gizmo on the basis of positive reviews. Sunovagun! It works like a charm; starts on the first pull and that nasty 'miss' is gone. The package didn't include instructions but it's easy... Remove the old armature and either cut the old wire(s) off at the cover for the points/condenser - or - remove the cover & tear out the points & condenser; replace the cover. Reinstall the magneto with a new woodruff key. The new armature has two thin wires (besides the thick spark plug wire). The thin wires are grounding wires to kill the engine. You only need one, so cut off the unwanted thin wire at the plastic push-on connector behind the armature. Route the other thin wire to the cutoff switch, if you have one, or use it to ground out the engine to stop it. Rotate the magneto so the magnet 🧲 is opposite the armature and loosely install the armature. Insert a standard business card (0.010" thickness) between the armature & magneto. Rotate the magneto so the magnet is directly under the armature. The magnet will pull the armature against the business card, leaving a proper 0.010" gap. Tighten the armature's hold down bolts. Rotate the magneto to extract the business card. Reassemble the engine & good luck!

My old 1974 B&S 2hp Edger lost its spark. This coil/module bypasses the points and condenser and now spark is good! Runs great and fit perfectly! Good buy and time will tell on the durability..

This thing literally came apart in my hands so needless to say... it didn't work! Stay clear of this trash!

I work on small engines for racing Karts and mini cars. Love all the older B&S models. It's always good to find aftermarket parts especially when the originals are obsolete. This piece totally eliminates the need for the old ignition-point-breaker system. It even comes with an oil plug and flywheel key. It's up to you to strip out the old system or cut the wire from the magneto, leave it and move on. You get what you pay for but i have seen no issues with these at all. Save yourself the $$-don't spend more than you have to on ebay for an original old part......I have done both and it's just not worth it.
