Great kit to encourage kids learn about plants

Needs compost
This is a fun little kit that has almost everything you need to get going with the nature experiments. The missing item is compost. This is a little disappointing, it does say not included but it does greatly limit your fun as compost can be expensive and not always readily available.

Missing a Crucial Component, But Makes Up for it with the Excellent Guide Book
You get enough seeds in this kit to plant a small forest. Our six year old daughter has had a few days of interesting geological and entomologically themed play in the garden using the well explained guide book that comes along with the set. We like that it comes with good heap of educational background in the form of the paperback book, lab work and field work. There is a lot in this set, more that a single day's play if your little one is outdoorsy and interested in gardening. You get: ▪︎ 3 packets of seeds: - a pack of corncickle seeds; - a pack of yellow cosmos seeds; - a pack of Violet cress; ▪︎Biodegradable tray; ▪︎3 Wooden plant markers; ▪︎Card scene which you colour and stick around the plant tray. ▪︎Plant cycle poster; ▪︎4 Nature scavenger hunt sheets; ▪︎A sticker sheet; ▪︎16-page Lab booklet in colour The one quite crucial thing missing is soil. If you're the type that doesn't always have a hefty bag of soil available, then this set can be bettered by others that Amazon sell - which include everything except water! But, if you do keep soil on standby like us all the time, then you've got to ask yourself if your little one really needs this kit as our little one is very apt at growing from seed outdoors and outgrew tray-growing at a younger age. For us, the real benefit is the full colour guide book. 4 stars
