Magic Soup: 100 Recipes for Health and Happiness

I absolutely love the recipes but doesn’t include all cracker recipes
I love all the recipes. The only complaint I have is that she doesn’t provide all the cracker recipes, or pate recipes that she used for complementing the soups. For example one recipe is a watercress soup with crab pate and pumpkin seed crackers while only providing the recipe for the watercress soup. The soups are still amazing!

too complicated
I have an extensive spice and ingredient pantry and make different soups almost daily in the winter and hoped this would add some new recipes to my inventory but, almost every recipe had one or two ingredients I don't have, can't get, or even heard of and the processes are extensive. Soup is not "rocket science".so why make it so difficult.

Won't Be Using This At All
I had high hopes for this book, but was sadly disappointed. The book is in good condition - I had no problem with the seller or the book's condition at all. My problem is with the book itself. I found all the recipes to be overly complicated, using ingredients that I'm not even sure where I'd find. Soup isn't that difficult! I wanted a cookbook that would help me to branch out and try new recipes, but this book is almost totally useless to me because the techniques are so labor intensive and the ingredients so rare. I can't imagine using a single one of these recipes, and for that I can't recommend it.

My Holy Grail of soup cookbooks.
I am a cookbook addict - not recovering. Magic Soup has become my Holy Grail of soup cookbooks and a jewel in the crown of my recipe collections. The ingredients can seem intimidating at first read, but most are now readily available in the international aisle of major grocery stores as well as at global-minded chains like Trader Joes and Whole Foods. The methods are not complicated and I think it offers enough for both the novice and the gourmand. Evocative pictures and engaging text.

So delicious!!!!!
I am also a cook book addict and Love cooking foods from all over the world. This book succeeds in many ways! First off it is beautiful to look at it which is so important when first choosing a recipe if you are a visual person. Secondly, many of the recipes are easy to make and then there are some challenging ones as well, which if you love to cook, is always an added delight and something to look forward to! And thirdly, the recipes are delicious! Anyone who enjoys the Ottolenghi cookbooks will see where working with him (which one of the authors has done) has influenced the food and that is a wonderful thing! There are the occasional unusual ingredients but isn't that one of the magic things about cooking? Discovering new flavors and textures??? I am buying a copy for a Vegetarian friend of mine who also adores food and is an accomplished cook because 85% of the recipes have no meat in them and many can be converted easily to veggie fare... This is my new favorite....
