Good idea, very poor quality control and manufacturing...
I tried two different copies of this lens and both were defective. The first was optically pretty decent for such a simple lens. I've used other fisheye "body cap" or "pancake" lenses such as this and the Pergear performed as expected optically. Unfortunately the mount latching mechanism was defective and while I could mount it on my camera it would not lock in place. The replacement, while it locked onto the mount just fine, was optically very poor with one side of the image very soft in comparison to other and far worse overall than the first copy. Clearly some sort of optical misalignment during the assembly of the lens. Worse still there was lubrication oil leaking or weeping onto both the front and the rear of the lens body. Both lenses did not have remotely accurate infinity stops either. If you were to just slide the lever to infinity and shoot a distant scene you would get a soft image. Infinity focus was actually about half way to the mid-range of the focus lever. As a side note, one review complains about the grip being in the field of view on a full frame camera. Indeed, this is designed as an APS-C lens and so of course when using the entire full frame sensor you see heavy vignetting and your grip or fingers will get in the way. This is not a defect of the lens. Since it has no electrical connections a FF body will shoot it as a FF lens even though only designed for APS-C. Now actually a fair bit of the view beyond APS-C is still usable and so it can be useful to have some of this extra field of view but one should not be surprised to see issues beyond the intended APS-C field of view.I was disappointed at the shoddy workmanship of this lens. It looks like a quite functional design and the optics, when properly assembled, are decent and useful within reasonable expectations for such a lens. Unfortunately the efforts put into the design have been wasted as the manufacturer appears incapable of reliably producing the item. I suspect some of the other negative reviews of this lens are also down to just very poor manufacturing quality control. I see a few people won the lottery and got a properly assembled lens and I wish I could have been as lucky ;) Amazon has been straightforward with both returns but I'm not going to waste my time or their money rolling the dice on a third copy.

What it is, what it's not
Got it today and played with it so this is a "first impression" review. I like it alot on my Z7. It will give you a wide-angle fish-eye view of your subject, like a GoPro photo. Outside of the Manual Focus Lever there's nothing to control. The lever setting is from 0.3 for close-up, to infinity and is not overly critical. The camera will be in Aperture Prioity or Manual Modes only. Camera Internal Body Image Stabilization is NOT available. To change shutter speed you can adjust ISO. Handholding the camera I got best picture clarity by setting ISO to whatever value allowed a shutter speed of 1/1000.In FX, 5:4 and 16:9 image area, the image is chopped off in the corners and the fingers of your right hand will appear in the photo! In DX or 1:1 image area there are no such artifacts.

Fun lens
Pergear’s 10mm f/8 fisheye is a fun lens with which to shoot. Optical sharpness is more than adequate. Constant f/8 and a mid-range focus point guarantees full depth of field focus. Great for cool landscape shots or interesting indoor images. For less than $80, why not?

Camera grip blocks view
Wanted to try an inexpensive fisheye. Compact and solid construction. Manual focus works well on Nikon Z7. Unfortunately, the view is so wide it invludes the grip built into the camera body. If you want a full fisheye effect would buy a lens that extends further from tbe body to avoid this problem.

Amazing little lens! Great value for money
I tried the PerGear 10mm F8 on my Sony A6600 A6000 and is giving me great results. For only 79$ i took those images shown above. I think for the price its an amazing value. I also used it on my gimbals for video work and it was extremely light weight and allowed me to get the job done. The lens shows a little vignette but thats to be expected with any ultra wide angle lens. Even lenses costing more than 1000$ have vignette at this focal length. I think for the price and what you can accomplish with this lens, you really cant go wrong. I love it and I highly recommend it for an ultra wide angle lens at an affordability price!

Solid lens
Solid metal lens. I was dumb and didn't realize that Nikon z wasn't reverse compatible with Nikon f so I haven't used it yet and can't until I upgrade to Nikon mirrorless.

Cannot recommend this disaster for any purpose - unusable and seemingly defective design
Purchased for my Nikon Z50 but returned almost immediately. The only good things I can find to say are 1) It's dirt cheap and 2) it's extremely well built and solid in feel - quite confidence inspiring, in fact. Unfortunately, these plus points evaporate as soon as one tests or attempts to use it.Exactly like the reviewer of the Sony version, I found the lens would not focus at infinity, had catastrophic off-centre performance and vignetted mightily. In fact, the thing wouldn't produce anything vaguely sharp at any setting. Now cheap is one thing, but performance like this renders the lens unusable for any purpose, even casual fun. This lens is an attempt to knock-off the superb - and equally cheap - Olympus 8mm lens cap fisheye for MFT. Sad that, unlike the Zuiko, they forgot the optics have to work...!

The little lens that could
This lens doesn’t try to be anything more than it is, and that’s fine by me. It’s a great compact little pancake lens. It has a fixed focal length as well as a fixed aperture making it simple to use, the only component on the lens that requires manual operation is the focus. As a result of its fixed f/8 aperture it makes a great day time lens keeping harsh light at bay. This lens is amazing for nature, landscape, and architecture photography. It might not be a go to lens for a lot of applications but it forwards you the ability to add creative, artistic, and interesting distortion to otherwise “plain” compositions. For the price I would highly recommend adding this lens to your arsenal as its small compact easy to keep in any camera bag which is perfect because you might not always need it but it’s there when you need to add a little creativity to your photos.

nice on full frame if...
I have a similar 9mm fisheye 'lenscap' for my Olympus Em10-ii . Of course the Oly is for M43 and 18mm equivalent. This Pergear is for aps-c . What happens on a full frame like my Z5 is way wider view but with some vignetting and the camera handle is in the picture. It's even worst if your hand holds the body normally... but you should use it in 1:1 square format . Unlike cropping to aps-c size, ou get the full height but remove the sides where the problems are. You can do it in post or set your camera to 1:1 for easier composing. In these conditions, it's a fun lens to use and pretty much as wide as it gets on full frame. It's important to have a focus lever and this model has it . I just got it and image quality seems good enough for a 24mp FF sensor but don't expect too much on that front. What remains to evaluate if is this is worth the price for you. Fisheyes are not for everyone but i found those wich covers the full frame and do not show a 'sphere' are often usefull.

Inexpensive super-wide-angle with surprisingly good quality; lets you take unique photos
Extreme wide angle lenses often provide one-of-a-kind shots, although they are usually not part of a regular lens cycle, meaning they sit around in your camera bag until the right opportunity comes along. But when it does come along, extreme wide angles can make stunning photos. In the past I have used several extreme wide angles, including fisheyes, and always been happy I had the lens. This Pergear 10mm "Pancake" lens came to my attention, and I had to try it; at the price it is offered at, it was almost a must-try!The lens is made of metal, and is very thin. The front lens cover and back mount cover are thicker than the actual lens, which attached easily to my Nikon camera bodies. It's easy to see where the "pancake" name comes from: the lens is not much thicker than a pancake! The lens comes in a foam padded plastic box, quite small and light, which hold the lens nicely protected. This is a manual focus lens, no automation for focus or aperture, but a lens this flat is almost always in focus anyway, with incredible depth of field. There is a manual focus capability, which is quite smooth, if you need it. None of the Nikon bodies (not film, just digital) in my collection had an issue with the lens once the camera was put in Manual mode. Most of the cameras will not recognize this lens as being attached, so you have to modify the camera setting to allow photos with no lens seemingly attached, which may require digging through camera manuals to find! Most of my testing has been done with a Z7, and the lens I used had a Z mount. What about the lens quality? It is surprisingly good. Routine landscape and architectural shots all came out nicely focusses and with excellent depth of field. Taking photos of test patterns, though, shows a little distortion, mostly at the end of the field (which, quite honestly, is to be expected on most inexpensive wide-angle lenses). Overall, I am quite impressed with the quality of the images this lens produced, and would not hesitate to use it in routine shooting situations. To avoid disappointment, though, you have to remember this is a completely manual lens, and, at 10mm focal length, is not going to behave like your 35mm wide angles with full auto control!
