Pro Hardcase Backpack Conversion

I have been searching for a product like this for over ten years. I travel every week for work and my pelican cases are crucial to my work. The ability to convert to a backpack is incredibly useful for trips where I know I will not have the luxury of flat surfaces and elevators. I also see a great application for turning a pelican case into a very rugged backpack for camping. After I received the RucPac I went over it closely examine stitching and hardware and found it to be well made. Attaching it to a model 1510 pelican was quite easy. The large included velcro sheets were easy to cut into pieces to cover all of the flat faces of the case where it would mate with the backpack. Take advantage of the instructional videos offered by the company, it will make attaching the system easier. The only note/feedback I'd offer would be for the adjustment buckles to be made of metal rather than plastic and I expect to look for aftermarket replacements as my personal use case finds me in extremely hostile terrain and temperatures that don't play well with plastic. I'd also like to give a shout out to the founder of the company who has been very nice to trade emails with when I used the RucPacx website contact information to ask some questions.

I found the rucpac while searching for pelican and Nanuk cases from YouTube, and felt that it was different from other cross design carrying systems and was more suitable for my needs. The strap of rucpac pro is very thick, and you will not feel a lot of pressure on your shoulders. The waist strap bears most of the weight. At the same time, rucpac pro does not affect the opening of the box, which is very important. In urgent tasks, You won't waste time by "undoing the straps", and you won't be in a hurry. The self adhesive Velcro strips would have worried me a bit, however, it's almost the same area as the back of the pelican 1510, nanuk 935, and the adhesive is very strong, plus the two top webbing straps on the top of the hardcase, cleared my doubts. rucpac pro is a very good carrying system, I personally like it very much.

Once I used it I couldn’t go back! I have used this case accessory to carry all of my gear to more than 12 countries in the last 3 weeks! Amazing Purchase! Background: I use this product to travel for work both in and outside the US. I have around 40lbs / 18kg worth of video production gear in this case and yet it still feels very comfortable to have in my back. This is an amazing solution for carrying gear as opposed to dragging your hard case through the sand / dirt. I purchased the “Pro” version as I believe that you need extra back padding when using as much gear as I do. The wheels also still work very well while this is equipped to the case! I also want to note that I have this attached to a “Nanuk 935” and not a traditional flat backed pelican. So I wasn’t able to apply both sets of the included Velcro (Only about half). Yet, I have not seen any signs of the Velcro not supporting the case and it has never detached, even though that is truly the only thing holding it to the case aside from the top straps!

At first I was skeptical that this would hold my case of fragile electronics. I cut the Velcro to size and tried a couple different weights to make sure…worked like a champ! I’m guessing my equipment is about 20-30 lbs with case. Carried this across a couple airports and it made my life way easier than rolling three different cases! Also packs down and was able to use as carry on. Quality stitching from what I can tell, good materials, sturdy, pretty comfortable. My only change to it would be add clips to the straps on top for easy quick release…..I don’t trust just the Velcro.

Been going outdoor to do plein air painting, carrying a wooden french easel around for 2 years. I am always searching for ways to make my trip easier to carry and faster to deploy the tools. The easel is a big wooden box with tripod legs, great to put all the tools inside but it only comes with a side strap which I got backpain every time went for a longer trip. The RucPac Pro listed for use on hardcase like Pelican, but I gave it a go on my wooden box. And it works like a charm. I could open the easel with the shoulder strap still attached, and the attachments are sturdy enough for the weight. It only adds minimal weight to my package, but supports my back to go trek for hours more. And I still got to detach the straps if i feels like it, which is great. Overall it is a well-thought out product and I think you hardly find other trek carrier that do what it does

Normally I don’t write reviews, but for a product that is so thought through and has so few reviews, I like to do that. Mainly I need my equipment in caves and steep cliff faces. There I need the best protection, recently I used backpacks and bags to carry my stuff around, which is not on the top of protection level. A similar system from a competitor (which by the way cannot be open while attached) was not suitable for me, this is basically the only system that fits to all my cases and my back, which is another point. The foam is comfy and let me carry my cases around like a backpack. The RucPac Pro is perfect for me, only the fact that in certain movements the velcro can make some sound of pulling apart. Just after testing the system I can say its not a problem. Hanging upside down on a rope or crawling through tight holes with the case on the back is not a problem. It stays in place. I’m really pleased with the quality and the sturdiness of the straps. It makes a huge difference being able to open the case while still attached. In short it is the best solution so far for taking your cases on a journey.

I have a nanuk 935 with wheels, sand and stairs is my problem, I have to carry it like a suitcase, so only one hand free to support myself. The RUC PAC hard case backpack conversion solves this problem. Easy velcro and two short slings connect to the nanuk, like a padded backpack, now I have both hands free.

It's a good product. It works perfectly with a hard case. Beyond that, it's very adaptable as an external frame for other backpacks. Good material and design.

Really well designed attachment for your case making it far more versatile for bringing equipment off the beaten path. The construction of the strapping and padding is very comfortable with adjustment possible to the shoulder straps for torso length. The harness is easy to remove if you wish to wheel the pack also.
