Good hand operated machine for the money.
This is a good quality machine for the money. Some components are a little crude, but can easily be polished up/deburred. Easily sews through 3 layers of 4-5oz leather for my projects.

Be patient
I sew leather with a ferdco machine. I bought this to patch shoes. I read the reviews and saw alot of folks said it was junk but to watch the videos on YouTube. I tinkered with it for 10 minutes and was able to sew without any issues. I am going to take some time to watch a video and set it up like they show. Some things could be a little smoother but it won't take much to get there. Sure the instructions are pretty much useless, but there's a wheel and a nut you put on. It's not rocket surgery. Buy it and try it out.I'm having a hard time winding the bobbin because they are small, but I'll build some sort of winder.

Not worth it
I have worked with thing for months and no luck. It came with no instructions and after having someone come over and successfully put it together it will not sew a straight line. It will not move the material. This is the biggest waste of money in years.

Needs better instructions.
Once set up, the machine functions well. I found I needed to understand every function of each part to properly arrive at success. The machine is a crude copy of a Singer unit so realize the design is good.

Really not worth it.
I bought for 119.00. After setting it up and watching videos for hours I could not get it to catch the bobbin. So when I returned it I wanted to replace it. The price was 149.00. Could not believe it jumped that much in 4 days. Bought a singer HD for a little more.

It works…Kind of.
Although modeled after a Singer model 29 machine it does have its flaws.Documentation could be better and explain why there are two tensioners. I recommend taking pictures of how the test thread is run and make your own documentation. The bobbin is difficult to remove and I had to make a tool to get it out more easily. The thread spool holder is useless as the spool doesn’t spin easily and the thread spools off and winds around the holder causing it to break. The bobbin winder holds the bobbin with friction and the instructions do not clearly define how to wind it.You need three arms to use this machine. Holding the workpiece, guiding/turning the foot while sewing, and one to crank the wheel. It’s not a Singer 29, but it also isn’t $1,200. All of the flaws mentioned above can be overcome with some home engineering. It sews very well once you get the hang of it. There are videos online that show how to add a motor to it any I’ll probably make a video of the modifications I made as they are different that all the ones online.

Well, it sews, but takes some tinkering to work well
Well to quote an earlier comment, it helps to have a mechanical aptitude and like tinkering. Its a rough device but this brand / version is at least been up graded .....some what. Takes a while to get tensions tweaked in but seems to sew anything i feed it. Now i just need to learn to control it better.

Kinda crappy
It didnt stitch when I got it and there might as well be no directions. It prob took me 5 hours or more to get it to operate correctly. It works but it's not the handiest thing to operate. Better than hand stitching I suppose.
