Excellent cd from Buble with just a few minor misses
For me this is maybe Michael Buble's most enjoyable cds so far. There is no denying his vocal and emotive abilities and on this cd he stretches some as well. His performance on the true standards is exceptional. YOU MAKE ME FEEL SO YOUNG, COME DANCE WITH ME, TO BE LOVED and YOUNG AT HEART are performed with an ease and grace as he grows even more into the depths of his talent. He also tackls 60's classics TO LOVE SOMEBODY and WHO'S LOVIN YOU and truly makes them his own. The Bee Gees would be thrilled with his interpretation of their classic song. The true gift with this cd is that there are 4 songs where Michael has cowriting credits. At first listen IT'S A BEAUTIFUL DAY sounds a lot like HAVEN'T MET YOU YET but listen to the lyrics and this song takes on new life. It's a much deeper song and one of his best self penned numbers. CLOSE YOUR EYES and I GOT IT EASY are heartfelt ballads, exceptional songs and he uses all his emotive abilities to bring out the true emotion and soul in them. Excellent. AFTER ALL which was cowritten with Bryan Adams is performed as a duet here and it's another highlight. Where I find the album lacks a little is with the guest vocalists. Singer Robbie Williams had a hit with SOMETHING STUPID which he performed with Nicole Kidman. For me Michael's version with Reese Witherspoon is true filler, adds nothing really to the other exceptional tracks and I don't really get why it's there. Also NEVERTHELESS (I'M IN LOVE WITH YOU) performed here with the Puppini Sisters is performed in such an old fashioned style that it doesn't flow with the other tracks and and the emphasis is on the style rather than on the emotion behind the song. It's a little weird for he has recorded with them before to huge success. Another filler for me is YOU'VE GOT A FRIEND IN ME. It's actually a fun number but with these other songs acting like kind of filler it doesn't stand out like it should. If it was an addition to all strong numbers it would have been striking in a good way. As a whole the good far outweighs the few negatives here. It's obvious Michael is trying to deliver what his fans want while exploring new territory as well. I love the cd. The majority of the tracks work well and are some of the best he's ever recorded. I do wish it was longer. It runs a mere 46 minutes and for me that's not enough of Michael. Also knowing there are other versions with bonus tracks sold elsewhere seems unfair. But Michael Buble remains an exceptional, powerful performer and vocalist and here delivers another winner.

To Each His Own
Michael Buble's "To Be Loved" has gotten mixed reviews here on Amazon. I take Amazon reviews seriously, which made me wonder about purchasing this disk But I also take Buble seriously, so I ultimately dove in. I've owned the CD for about 2 months now, and I purposefully waited that long to see what I would think. I recommend this CD. In many ways, it is like most of Buble's modern disks: a nice combination of freshened-up standards, duets and a few original songs. Virtually all of these songs succeed. Everyone in my house enjoys this disk: wife, my kids and me. I think the cat even likes it. (As for the dog, well, she likes everything, so that's not much of an endorsement.) Is it a perfect album? Is it Buble's best? No, it isn't. I remain mystified at the song "Something Stupid." The choice of song is fine -- the Sinatra original is fun, and it is the kind of song to which Buble can easily add his own touch. But Reese Witherspoon on duet -- why? Outside the context of this album, I have no particular axe to grind with Ms. Witherspoon, but, put simply, she adds absolutely nothing here. There are any number of female vocalists who might have brought some ying to Buble's yang in this song. Ms. Witherspoon's voice, though, is flat, plain and almost inaudible at times. In spite of that, I still like Buble's rendition, but this is one of those "might have been" songs had different choices been made during production. I still gave this 5 stars. Probably, I would have given it 4.5, if that was an option. I think it is a pretty solid album, and I can see using it, along with Buble's other disks, for years to come. You may quibble with some of the songs, choices or execution, but, in my judgment, most Buble fans will enjoy this disk and not regret its purchase.

Not Just A Rat Packer Anymore - Motown Crossover!
Love this new record! I'm a rat pack junkie and I put Michael Buble right in with the gang, but with this album he's crossed over into Mowtown! The songs are really bright and fresh but with that classic throwback vibe. You got the feel of Sam Cooke / Ben E King, Dean Martin / Frank Sinatra, and Michaels own personal style running through this entire album, and the layout works well with each song flowing into the next. I also love that he's added more of his own material -which is really good! I usually dislike albums that have featured artists singing together, but it works here, especially the song with Reese Witherspoon which I was totally surprised about. For me this is his best album so far. He's up'd his game adding Mowtown, which was a great move because its hard to stay current with the songs he does. If you like Buble and are open to growth you should really like this one, but even if you don't care for his style, take a good listen to the album sample on Amazon or iTunes (which give you a longer run time of each sample) to get the feel for this album before you pass. Im telling you, its very different than any of his others, and may just snag you as a new fan if you're into Mowtown.

Buble's still got it!
I've always loved Michael Buble's style, and still do. But he has matured as an artist, and while he can still croon a tune with the best of them, he offers up a little bit more of a soulful, jazz-inspired sound on some of these selections. The joyful "It's a Beautiful Day", ironically about a break-up, is sure to bring a smile, while his sensuous, low-keyed duet with Reese Witherspoon, "Something Stupid" smolders in a nostalgic way. "Who's Lovin' You" is soulful, bluesy and a little raw, but he is classic Buble on the opening and closing selections "You Make me feel so Young" and "Young at Heart". These two tunes are upbeat, smooth and swingy, and are the perfect bookends for a nice collection sure to please any Buble fan.

"Come Dance with we" Eine leidenschaftliche und temperamentvolle Nummer! "After all" Geil! "Have i told you...." " To be Loved" Das wünscht sich doch jeder... "I got it Easy" Ich finde in diesem Song hört man sehr gut seine kraftvolle und wandelbare Stimme. Einer meiner Favoriten vom Album! "Young at Heart" Wieder eine etwas ruhigere Nummer.... Hat mich bisher noch nicht wirklich erreicht... " Be my Baby" Einwandfrei!!!
