A Scandal in Spring (The Wallflowers, Book 4)

My Favorite of the Series!
I have enjoyed the Wallflowers series so much, but Daisy and Matthew's story is definitely my favorite. It was so sweet, hilarious, and swoony. I was surprised when I found out that Cam Rohan would not be paired with Daisy after their encounter in the previous book, but Matthew Swift completely won me over. He is everything I love in a hero and his devotion and pining had my heart aching. There was no way I would be able to resist this steadfast, intelligent, self made man that is all in for our heroine from the start. Lisa Kleypas is such a masterful storyteller, she had me swooning over a button!I think what surprised me most in this book though was Daisy. She really came into her own and I have so much respect for her. She remained faithful to herself, went after what she wanted, and stood by her man no matter what. My feelings for Lillian and Marcus also improved in this book because of their fierce showing of loyalty (even if the road was initially bumpy). Mary Jane Wells gave a brilliant performance as always, but I will say it was a little odd this time around since both main characters were American. She switched back and forth flawlessly between accents however, and I will happily listen to everything she narrates. I'm so happy that all of these wallflowers found their happily ever after!Audiobook ReviewOverall 5 starsPerformance 5 starsStory 5 stars

I have read more books by this writer than any other writer. I have read over 20 books by her. When I have a run of mediocre books-some I can’t finish or struggle with- I go to my TBR cabinet and find one of hers. I have experienced only a few disappointments with her books. She writes a good HR romance. Her Devil in Winter is one of my top favorites and Sebastian a top favorite HR boyfriend. I enjoyed this book. I enjoyed being reacquainted with the Wallflowers. I love when Sebastian and Evie are included. It wasn’t my favorite book in the series but it was worth my time and I was happy to see Daisy-the last wallflower to marry- get her HEA. Not sure how I’ll feel when I have finished all her books. I guess I’ll have to start over?

Series Finales for the Wallflowers!
This is the final installment of the Wallflowers series by Kleypas! It is a standalone but it is recommended to read the first three in the series first otherwise you will miss the references surrounding the other characters. This is the story of Daisy Bowman and Matthew Swift.Daisy Bowman is the daughter of a rich American entrepreneur whose has given Daisy an ultimatum, find someone to marry by the end of the season or marry Matthew Swift, an employee of her father and the man she hates. I was really excited to read Daisy's story, she is most quirky of the wallflowers and the most eternally positive who is looking for love. She operates in who own world leading to many people not understanding her and underestimating her. Matthew has his own backstory that is a mystery throughout the book and it slowly comes to light. This is a great ending for the wallflower series and highly recommended.

A scandal indeed!
A Scandal in Spring, book 4 in the Wallflower series is an enjoyable, entertaining read. I love how these books are so incredibly different, the path these ladies take to get their happily ever after is not easy.Daisy Bowman is the last and youngest of the Wallflowers to find a husband, her father has given her an ultimatum to find a husband by the end of season of he is making her marry a man of his choosing.Matthew Swift is an associate of Thomas Bowman and a favorite due to his excellent business acumen. He is not someone Daisy likes of feels would suit her as a potential husband.Matthew Swift comes to England at the request of his employer, setting up a new manufacturing plant in Bristol. He arrived at Stony Cross Park, immediately seeking out the object of his infatuation for years. Finding out the ultimatum her father gave Daisy he had to stop it, the secrets he has been keeping about his past couldn't touch Daisy, he wouldn't let it.

Meh
3.5 starsI've been going through a massive reading/reviewing slump lately. I think this book was a massive victim of that slump. I hoped a Wallflower book would pull me out of it, but alas it didn't. There's nothing wrong with this book, I just failed to connect to it. My fault and not the author's.This book is about the youngest wallflower Daisy, whose father declares a match for her when she doesn't procure an English husband. Unfortunately, Daisy hates the American businessman her father chose, despises him in fact. But sometimes the person we least suspect is the perfect person for you!Anyways, I liked parts of this book but wasn't feeling it. I loved the first 3 books in this series, and I will happily read more by Kleypas in the future.

A grand ending
This is the fourth book in the series, and it was delightful! Another standalone, but enjoyed much more if the others are read first. I definitely want to reread the Christmas story again having full knowledge of all the ladies now. This story focuses on Daisy and Matthew. The two are quite different in temperament and preferences, but opposites attract here. He has loved her ever since seeing her years ago for the first time. He's charming, attractive, good with money and negotiations, and he has a remarkable amount of self-control. She is a dreamer, a reader, idealistic and fond of history. She is everything he has ever wanted, and he seemingly wasn't for her, until she got to know him better. Her feelings for him grew quickly, but it was still very enjoyable. He was as devoted as they come. Together, they have a great connection that is wonderful to see.Overall, I enjoyed this last installment as the last wallflower got married. She had an exciting journey, just as the others did. The romance was satisfying, just as the book flowed well and was very addictive. The book was edited well, and the plot was good. If you love historical romance, this is definitely a series you need to read!

Fab Finale to the Series
This re-read has reminded me what a delight the story of Daisy and Matthew is. In some ways this book is quieter in tone and pace than the books that have come before in the series, but it was just what I wanted and found myself comfortably engrossed. After spending three London seasons searching for a husband with no success, Daisy Bowman's lovely father has given her an ultimatum - either she finds an English nobleman or she marries the man he has selected. To say Daisy and Lillian are aghast would be no understatement. The way in which Daisy’s parents, especially her father, are unable to appreciate and enjoy her charm and imagination made me feel sorry for them – but in Matthew she finds someone who truly understands and appreciates her.I enjoyed the re-emergence of characters from previous books, but I do always wish that St. Vincent was more prominent in this, nevertheless I don’t see this book (like many of LK’s HR books) ever shifting from my re-read pile.

The Last Wallflower gets her HEA in style
Daisy is the last of the Wallflowers who made a pact to find each other a husband. The spirited Lillian's younger sister she is equally unmarriageable because of her nouveau-riche American origins. Like Lillian she is unconventional but she is also a romantic. And she wants to marry a man who loves her, not the ambitious upstart Matthew Swift, who her father has decided is the perfect match. But then Matthew turns out to have hidden depths… The only problem is, Matthew also has a terrible secret, and he really isn't what he seems. I have to admit I've always struggled with books that rely on a secret revealed to supply conflict because that can sometimes feel mechanical, but its no surprise that Kleypas pulls this story off like all the others… The big reveal when Matthew is finally forced to admit his background are heart-breaking and captivating in equal measure. And Daisy is just the girl for him, so sweet and spirited. Absolutely devastated I've read all the books now!! May have to go on another Kleypas binge read… The Hathaways here I come!

The final Wallflower
I waited for what seemed like forever for this book to come out, and when it did I was slightly dissappointed. Daisy was always one of my favourite wallflowers and I felt that her book should be something really special, especially after she met the romantic gypsie Cam in the book before (the devil in winter). It seemed in all the build up to the book it fell just short of delievering the passion, fire and chemistry that the first three books had. However, I still enjoyed it, and there were some really heart warming moments, epsecially when Lillian is giving birth. Lillian and Westcliff, and all the other wallflowers were featured often, so fans of the series can see how they grow, and the last chapter is a lovely ending of the serires (until Mine till Midnight where they return briefly). Matthew Swift is a likeable hero, and seems to be a good match for Daisy, their different natures balancing each other out (and not everyone can be a Westcliff or a Lord St Vincent).Overall, I would reccomend this book to anyone who has read the rest of the series, and I think you will enjoy it. If you are new to the Wallflower series then start at the beginning! Secrets of a Summer night was my first Kleypas book and it got me completely hooked.

Lovely Daisy finally gets her turn...
I must admit I thoroughly enjoyed this Wallflower Series by Lisa Kleypas, I find it hard to pick my favourite out of the 4; whether it be book, wallflower or husband! As the youngest wallflower, and the youngest Bowman sister, Daisy has had to wait her turn for marriage. The Bowman sister's have come from New York to England to try and land a English Nobel husband, but due to their lack of genteel manners, they've found it a struggle. Daisy is a dreamer and a reader, she wants a quiet life with a calm husband who loves her, but her father has other ideas. He wants her to marry Matthew Swift who is his business protegee so that Matthew is brought into the family fold and can inherit. But all Daisy remembers about Matthew is that he's skinny and annoying, but he does have nice teeth! She's completely against the match, that is until she see's Matthew again and starts to get to know him. Matthew Swift has a secret past though (dont' they all?!), and he's also been in love with Daisy for as long as he can remember, but because of his past he doesn't want to marry her.....Beautifully written with humour, lovely characterisation, a sense of really getting to know these characters and just more time spent with the lovely Wallflower family. Relish this book, it's a beauty. When you've finished, go and start The Hathaway series, it's just as good if not better.
