Informative open tuning book
Lots more chords in this book than you'll find in online chord charts. Good reference booklet.

great value
What can I say? I wrote this book in 1994 and self published it for 15 years. It's what I designed it to be - a simple reference book for chord shapes in the two most popular open tunings, Open D and Open G, which makes a snug fit in your guitar case. If you want to play good slide guitar and still play chords this book is for you. Or just play some big, rich open tune chords like Don Everly, Ry Cooder, Keith Richards and more.Over the years my book has made its way into the guitar cases of artists like David Bowie, Peter Buck (REM), Lee Ritenour, Arlo Guthrie, David Hidalgo (Los Lobos), Daniel Johns (Silverchair), Paul Kelly, Paul Weller, PJ Harvey, Chris Cheney (Living End), Murray `Red Wiggle' Cook, Lloyd Cole, Tim Rogers and guitarists from Ireland to Lithuania. Tune down and twang up.... Brendo

Meh - very light on actual info or theory
I was disappointed in this title. There is no real organization here, and there are very few chord forms on each page. If you figure out some classic alternate tuned songs ('Friends' by Led Zeppelin, say, or 'Bron-y-aur Stomp'), you're already way past this book.Actually, if you create a chart of the strings and frets, you can just figure out what chords are where, which would be infinitely more helpful than a small list of six fingerings. Unfortunately, without theory, this is a borderline useless book, and without any contextually useful interesting chords (dom7#9, for example), this is not worth any asking price. If you a rank beginner at these tunings (meaning you have never tried to play in them) there might be some value here. If you have any experience at all with these tunings, though, this is a hard pass.

I love it. Buy it
Not many books out there with these patterns. It's patterns for chord shapes for various open tunings, with some brief explanation. The book has high recommendations from various pretty heavy musical people like David Bowie [there is a picture of him somewhere holding the book and hanging with the author of this book].Not that he is a high-mark for guitar, but there are other excellent guitarists who recommend this book, can't remember their names but I watched their youtube videos, and they are solid.Read the back cover of this book to get their names. So it's not just me who loves it, is what I'm saying.

Great Book
I like this book very much. I’m using it as my introduction to open tuning. It’s a bite size starter with enough info to satisfy. It’s helped me take my playing to a new level.

No Open E Tuning
Covers open D and open G, but not Open E, something that isn't very clear.

Good priced alternate tuning chord book
Very good for learning chord shapes in open G and set out clearly. Good price too. I would recommend it for those exploring alternate tuning on the guitar or seeking new directions or inspiration.

So So
Okay if you only play in open D or G. There's some padding (eg a couple of tabs for tunes) but overall, pretty limited.
