The Verti-Grip Rocker Knife is a vertical handle rocker knife designed for use by individuals with upper extremity disabilities or use of only one hand. This knife requires predominantly downward pressure and minimal rocking motion to cut. The knife has a weighted blade with a hollow ground 440 stainless steel edge. The knife is designed on a vertical axial plane design that provides control when pushing down, limiting slippage and increasing force. The tall wood and epoxy handle keeps hands and fingers suspended above the cutting area and the groove notch at the top provides a thumb index centering the hand above the blade for single hand use. In addition, the handle provides sufficient surface area for two hands to clasp the sides of the handle and generate cutting force. The knife includes a snap-on, snap-off Kydex sheath for transport and storage. The best knife for one hand user.
This is a great knife. Solid, great for my small hand. It cut steak easily. Just rock it over the meat. It will cut frozen meat easily. I made several pieces from frozen dinner sausage. It cut the cooked sausage into medallions easily. It is bigger than it's picture on Amazon. It comes with a blade protector. I had no trouble removing the protector one-handed. If you carry to a restaurant you will need a medium sized bag. This is a bit heavy. I managed it just fine. The knife is easy to clean with water and drop of liquid dish soap. The handle is durable solid material, not wood. I have not used it in the dishwasher.

Cover Doesn't Fit/Work
I love how sharp it is and easy to use. Bought for my husband who survived a stroke but left him paralyzed on one side. He could easily cut with it, VERY sharp. However, the problem is the cover. It took forever to get it to snap off, I thought I was going to slice my hand open. Then thought maybe it was just put on incorrectly. Nope. Absolutely impossible to get back on. Tried every which way, it is too small or something. Best I could do was get one side in. Which is really a problem. Cannot be stored safely. Absolutely needs a cover. I had read that it could be done with one hand, but can't do it with two. Maybe a fluke, but no good in my opinion. Now have to return which is a pain in the backside.

This is a very good quality knife
This is a very good quality knife! I'm an Occupational Therapist and have never cared for other "rocker knives" that much. I found this one for my mom who has serious arthritis. We were all wanting to try it out! Ordered another one when she came for another visit a year later and left her's at home. Same good quality. Only complaint is that the "cover" is hard to snap into place correctly. That could be a problem if you need to carry it in a bag.

I ordered one of these for my daughter who has RA, she loved it so much that I order her another one for amazon. The price was better on amazon and I received it alot quicker, (like a week sooner) Daughter uses this everyday for everything from steak to vegt.Whoever came up with this knife should be very pleased with themselfs. Thank you......

Must like it. I've ordered 3. My husband who is a hemiplegic finds it easy to use and helps with his independence. One of the best features is that you can sharpen it when needed

Too heavy and hard to sharpen. Too expensive.

Rocker knife.
Very sharp and easy to use. I take it with me to restaurants and cuts through steaks with ease. I love it! Will probably order another.
