Good book, needs some tweaks
This is good information separated by body system. It does not include all labs. I was very surprised anion gap was not included. This is one that I struggle with and was hoping for some clarity. It would also be helpful if there was an index at the end to quick-find specific labs. Beginners may not know what system each lab is associated with.

Excellent lab reference book
Im an RN and nurse practitioner student. Overall impression of this lab book is that the information is presented very concisely and in an easy-to-understand format. While there are always more tests that can be run, I think this book does a fantastic job of providing information on the most commonly used lab tests. I have purchased many lab reference books that are quite overwhelming with the amount of information included. I believe your lab book addresses the most frequently used tests and can be useful to a variety of medical professionals. I very much like that you have included some common causes of abnormal laboratory values. This is incredibly useful when discussing lab results with patients as one of the most common questions is “why?” The text is written in a way that is not overly technical, making it easier to understand for a variety of medical professionals and students.

Basic and easy to understand, but lots of typos and mistakes
First thing is I like how easy this is to read. It goes over the basics, and quick blurbs of why certain lab values are important and what reduced or elevated levels might indicate. However, the authors need to either pay up for an editor or get a better one. There are a lot of typos, random letters, for instance I’ve seen “count” spelled without the “o”, clozapine referred to as a anti hypertensive instead of an antipsychotic, etc. So far the overall picture seems sound, but the authors should realize that many small errors might cause questions about the accuracy of everything else.

Great Resource for Med School and Nursing Students.
Overall, this book is a fantastic resource! I certainly wish I’d had access to it when studying for the NCLEX several years ago. The book’s contents are well-organized into easily digestible chapters and the listing of laboratory tests is comprehensive for a general hospital or clinic setting. I appreciate how each individual test is given its own section and how well the mechanism and purpose of each test is explained. The assessment questions at the end of each chapter are a good way to review and clearly correlate to the information in the text. I’d certainly say the book would be a valuable companion both to nurses and physicians and could serve as a quick reference when determining appropriate patient testing and interpreting test results.

Succinct but comprehensive overview, very useful.
I wish I had had this while in medical school but the info is still very useful as a qick review and reference. The book contains an overview of the types of lab tests there are in medicine, organized by organ system. It's succinct, all the basics are there, no fluff. There is much needed practical information, such as how to take blood, what lab panels to choose under different clinical circumstances and it also has reference blood levels for different drugs. I also really like the review questions at the end of each chapter. I think this is a 'must have' for health science students. It's inexpensive and when I bought the print version I even received the kindle version free.
