Chef Karen Anne Murray's Tea Table: Inspiring Tea Time Creations From California's Central Coast

I have been visiting Karen Anne’s tea shop for many years. She is so friendly and her food is always amazing. I live 3 hours away and sometimes I just can’t make the drive. I have often wished she had a cookbook and now....my wish has been granted!The book is perfect for someone like me, the recipes are not intimidating at all. She lists needed tools at the beginning of the recipe which is very handy.I waited to leave a review until I actually tried to make a recipe and.....oh-my-word!!!!!I made the scones and aside from my slightly over baking them they were AMAZING! Seriously, these scones alone are worth the price of the book!ALSO, I love loose leaf tea and sometimes I really struggle with the ratios when making a cuppa. My cuppa was magnificent!Looking forward to trying to make the sausage rolls next!

My husband and I had the privilege of meeting the author, a lovely lady named Karen Anne Murray, a couple of years ago when we were in Pacific Grove. It was a rainy day and we decided to warm up with some tea from her tearoom, Eddison & Melrose Tea Cottage. Karen Anne took the time to chat with us and made us feel very welcome. We will never forget her friendliness. I was so excited to see in the current issue of Victoria Magazine that she had written a book based on her tea business in the beautiful Central Coast of California as well as her many years of experience as a chef. This book has been written from the heart. The recipes are delicious and have detailed instructions, even down to the cookware and utensils that are needed. Every recipe is photographed with the a scene from the beautiful Monterey Bay shown in the background. In addition to her tea recipes, Karen Anne also gives all kinds of information on brewing tea, serving tea, menus, etc. As someone who has collected many books on the subject of tea, this is definitely one of my favorites.

Every time I read through her fabulous recipes and stories, it inspires me to recreate her uniquely English, European and Californian, and frankly delicious recipes. Easy to follow recipes, and easy to impress your friends and loved ones with your own take of joyful moment of tea and delightful dishes. It’s a companion guide to keep handy in your kitchen. Inspiring ideas for you next cream tea, afternoon tea to high tea. I really love Karen’s take on bringing tea culture to the world and her beloved Pacific Grove, California . I can’t wait to see her next book for sure!

I ordered a copy of Tea Table shortly after publication. Being a big fan of the Central Coast of California, tea time and recipes that are simple to follow, I was excited about the combination of all three elements in one (lovely) package. Tea Table: Inspiring Tea Time Creations From California's Central Coast, does not disappoint. Although it's a compact book, it's filled with recipes that transport me to my British childhood, some of which incorporate Californian touches. Karen Anne Murray has a warm, relatable writing style and I can't wait to start trying to recreate her creations. Besides my own, already valued copy, I look forward to giving it as a present.

From the first few pages, Tea Table became a relaxing book of fun stories and easy delicious tea recipes. Karen Murray has shared with us a gentle reminder that life is to be found in the simple pleasures. Tea Table is a warm blanket of comfort that inspired me to put the kettle on and choose something to make. Will be giving Tea Table to my mother and Aunt for mother's day and certain they will enjoy Karen's stories and treasured recipes.

We are loving Karen's book! It is beautiful! We are so grateful she shared her favorite recipes, so we can make them in new home! We miss visiting her adorable, delicious tea house and thankful we can enjoy some of her recipes now! The photos bring us back to our favorite place! Thank you!

This is a wonderful book. You can tell so much thought and care went into every detail — from the recipes to the photos that accompany them. The book is full of both wisdom and beauty from Chef Karen Anne and captures the magic of her tea room. I’ll treasure it!

I have spent many wonderful holidays in and around Monterey Bay and have, over the years visited Karen Anne's tea room many times and enjoyed her delicious cakes, sandwiches and other goodies. This lovely book with its tasty, easy to follow recipes and gorgeous photos is a wonderful way to hold onto those holiday memories - particularly during this time when we cannot travel due to the pandemic! On a dull grey day just opening the book and seeing all those wonderful colours makes me feel a whole lot better.Celestine
