Cafe AlturaWhole Bean Organic Coffee, French Roast, 2 Pound

I'm someone who's entirely willing to pay a ton of money for excellent coffee. These beans are dark, fragrant, and gorgeously oily. They brew up rich, smooth, delicious coffee. Superior to beans I've paid more than twice the price for. My only caution is that you will need to step up your cleaning routine for both the grinder and the pot - all that oil gums up the works with residue and will eventually lend a bitter taste to everything, and may well clog your burr grinder. But the extra work is completely worth it - coffee excellence at this low price is worth extra effort.

I have tried many different coffee's over the past severeal years and I am a hard customer to please. I ran across this coffee at my son's house and loved it. I love a bold coffee and this one tasted better than any of the coffee's I have had to date so I decided to join the coffee club as we go through quite a bit of coffee. I am a creature of habit and if I find one I really like I tend not to change. The beans are dark in color and have an oily (which I find are the best) look. I would highly recommend this coffee to anyone.

This is my favorite roast Cafe Altura makes. I make espresso with these beans every single day and I just love it. These beans are very oily, very strong, and has some complex flavors including spiciness. If you just love smooth italian espresso, then this could be too strong for you. It doesn't have so much of burnt flavor or bitterness, though espresso could get bitter sometimes if you grind them too fine or tamp too hard. I've never tried these in french press or drip, but my guess is that if it is brewed for correct amount of time, it will produce very nice coffee.

This is the best coffee I've had. I went out to eat the other day and asked for a cup of coffee I've had dozens of times before except this was the first time having it since trying Cafe Altura. There was such a big difference in the taste I couldn't even finish my cup of restaraunt coffee. It tasted terrible compared to Cafe Altura.

I have had many french roast coffee's I just can't drink!Bitter,just overpowering in taste. Then I bought this one for my esspreso machine. It smells very robust. But it is like silk in your mouth. No bitterness, just great smooth taste! I love having a french roast that I love to drink. I can't say I am fond of the price. It has taken a very big jump. But I truly adore this french roast.

Well the first time I used these beans in my french press, the coffee tasted great. However, as a started developing my taste for the coffee, I noticed that this particular variety has a strong smokey flavor to it. Some may not like that flavor.Also, I found that the beans did not exhibit much "bloom" when I was brewing it in the press. I think that has very much to do with the age of the beans.

In case you are a looking for intense dark coffee, this is the right choice!
