On the edge, adrenaline ride
This was a very fast paced thriller. The adrenaline was always there. Apart from the a bit slow paced midpoint of the novel, which lasts for a few chapters before the book quickly picks up the pace again, this was a very fun and enjoyable read. The lead character was freshly crafted and felt real. The only complaints I have about the book, are the male characters aren't as deeply realistic as their female counters.

Your next weekend binge
Inspired by real-life events, The Chain is haunting and dramatic. With every passing chapter, the plot drifts towards something sinister. The Chain's detached narration is the highlight of the book. A mother's emotions, even though it's all over the place, take a backseat and she breezes through the instructions, the actual kidnapping and later, the nightmares. A parent would do anything for their child, and that has been turned into a money-making scheme by 'The Chain', running smoothly (mostly) with minimal supervision and a lot of threats. McKinty also provides us with the psychology of the people who run such an institution, their troubled family life and their need for power, control and money.A nail-biting thriller that is perfect for your weekend binge.

Unique plotline
-you drop your child to the bus stop-a stranger gets down the car and kidnaps your child-the kidnappers not just demand a high ransom but also asks you to kidnap another child-if you don't, your child will probably end up dead-the only way to save your child is to kidnap someone else's-and just like that, you are now a part of 'The Chain'What a riveting cat and mouse thriller! The narration is too good, the plotline is too good, the protagonist is too good, the climax is too good. Undoubtedly it's going to be one of my favorite thrillers of all time.I was getting anxious with every turn of the page. It is so smartly written- the way the chain operates and what it does to a family. Once you are in the chain, there's no way out. The anti heroes were brilliantly sketched too. Pete's character has a certain depth that I loved. Actually, I loved everything about this book tbh. Even if the later half felt a bit dragged, I still enjoyed reading it. You should be giving this a read for it's unique plotline.

A Promising Thriller That Fizzles Out in The End!
(Voluntarily reviewed a physical copy of the book on For The Love of Fictional Worlds)If you have picked up the book because of the intriguing blurb - welcome to the quicksand of being a reader. But I have to hand it in to the author - the synopsis of a woman getting a phone call telling her that her 13 year old daughter has been kidnapped and the only way to get her own daughter back is to move forward the chain - by kidnapping another child and asking her victims to kidnap the next one.I actually read this beauty within a couple of days - I actually was gripped by the plot and the writing style in the book; but to be honest, it looses steam almost halfway through and takes a turn that I honestly didn’t understand, neither did I actually like it!The Chain has such brilliant potential - and it was the strong starting that had me binging the book, even though the plot tapers off into a weak climax and ending.Adrian McKinty shows promise - and I will still be looking out for the book the author writes; for I still have high hopes from the author in the future!

Amazingg read!
"Now you know what your purpose is, don't you, Rachel? Now you know what you have to do if you want to see sweet little Kylie again. That blind panic that you're feeling? That adrenaline rush? That call to action? The Chain gave you that. The Chain has set you free."I hardly dared to breathe as I raced through this book in a day! Razor-sharp tightrope time with this 400 paged monster of a read! This book wormed it's way into my thoughts in the moments I kept it down to do something else and I had to go back pick it up again! The book begins with the phone of Rachel O'Neill ringing, informing her that her daughter Kylie is abducted and to get her back, she has to kidnap another child and her child will be released when her victim's parents kidnap another child.WoW, right? The whole concept of the chain sounded fabulous to my ears, considering the thriller junkie that I am!It started so strong and I was just sprinting through chapters at a very high speed because- the writing, the endearing plot had me on my tenterhooks! Each of the side characters who played a crucial role was very well introduced. The book is divided into 2 parts, Part 1 following the kindap and release of Kylie O'Neill and Part 2 involving Rachel to track down The Chain and get over the nightmares that The Chain induced on her!The plot sometimes shuffles between the Narratives of Rachel O'Neill and The Host of The chain, giving more depth to each character and further polishing this fusion of human psychology, fear and suspense. To talk about both, the positives and the negatives of the book, I did find some of the writing to be flat and cliched and the characters did stupid things.🤦🏻♀️ I have read one more book by Adrian McKinty, this one didn't feel as great as that one. Moreover, I would have liked if there were some more twists and red herrings in the book, which would have give an edge to the second half that I felt was missing a bit!Overall, it was an exhilarating read for me, keeping me up at night to see how it ends, I really enjoyed the tremendous narrative voice! Cheers to The Chain!"VICTIM.✓ SURVIVOR.✓ABDUCTOR.✓ CRIMINAL.✓YOU WILL BECOME EACH ONE."YOU ARE NOW PART OF THE CHAIN

A great ideia, fear induzing. The end is a little bit forced
It's a great idea to pursue, and I'm afraid it will give ideas to bad people. The end, however, could be better.
