Great product
Its a Wimberley product. That kind of says it all. Same excellent quality as everything else I have from them. I purchased this plate to replace a P-20 on my Sony 70-400 G II mounted to a a99ii. I also purchased a Wimberley Sidemount WH-200-S (NOT the same as the Sidekick) and wasn't sure that the P-20 would have adequate length to balance the lens + a a99ii with the battery grip. As it turns out, it was possible to balance the setup with the P-20, but just barely. The longer lens plate made it much easier and is more flexible. The longer plate also makes it easier to mount the camera/lens on the Sidemount.Great workmanship. Great finish. Great materials. Its just a great product overall.Side note: $50+ for a lens plate may seem like a lot of money, but after spending the better half of a day surfing for an equivalent plate, the cheapest I could find that even came close was still $25-28. So, in theory, you might save $20-25. The question is whether saving $20-25 is worth it when your body/lens comes loose and lands on the rocks (or on the rocks at the bottom of a cliff or lake). Some (quite a few) plates don't have the little screws at each end. Some look like the coating is actually paint. My experiences with the cheap metals coming from China doesn't give me any warm fuzzies either. Dimensions can also be a problem since besides there being no real 'Arca' standard, the Chinese seem to have issues using rulers. There are all kinds of ways in which trying to save $20 can lead to a catastrophic mess, none of which I wasn't to experience. Want to save $20? Stay out of Starbucks for a week.

Get a quality plate for big, expensive lens
I've only had it a short while, so time will tell. The build and material quality appears to be excellent, and so far it has held up very well under a big, heavy lens. Two bolts are definitely better than one, and the tripod foot for my lens supports two, so this was the plate to go with, and it's just not going to twist out of alignment. No problems with the fit or stability into my QR, although now I feel like I need a better QR.It's really not too high a price if you consider what you are trusting it do - you don't want the manufacturer to take short cuts to get the cost down a few bucks.

Superb Super Telephoto Plate
I recently purchased the Wimberley P40 for my EF 400mm F/4.0 DO. I understand that the recommended plate is the P30, but, I felt more confident that the length of the P40 will provide better support and balance for the lens, lens hood, camera body, extenders 1.4x or 2.0x and a battery grip. (Must worry about at least five weight distribution items). I like the way the P40 has two screws to be placed on the front and back to prevent lens from falling out of place when releasing or attaching lens on plate. The P40 is built with the highest and most professional build quality, it feels so solid, strong, yet light weight. The amount of care and detail put into its design and build quality makes me feel confident that you can trust placing expensive super telephoto lens on Wimberley designed products.Thank you for reading!

Is It Cheap? I Think Not...
this plate has been mated with a large Sigma sports lens. fit, finish, and build quality of the plate is top shelf. And even if you're not cost conscious (why would you not be), this would still be top choice. I have RRS gear, all very solid and great, but also, costly. I'll be going to Wimberley for future products first going forward.

Solid - why you buy it
This is a super solid plate that I'd trust any super telephoto lens on. Arca-Swiss compatible, milled and comes with extra hardware (screws, wrenches), Wimberely lives up to their reputation. Don't put your gear at risk with anything else.
