Does this stabilizer have a shelf life?

I just purchased my package about a month ago and the label on the package says that it is good until March, 2015, so I would say that the shelf life is about 5 or 6 months. You can also purchase a larger container of whipped cream stabilizer at the King Arthur Flour website. I am not certain how long the shelf life of their product is in relation to Whip It, but if you go through it fairly quickly, you might like the larger container that KAF offers. I have never been disappointed in anything I purchase from King Arthur Flour. They have fantastic customer service that will answer all of your questions.

Are there any other products this would work with?

Dr. Oetkers vanilla sugar is also great for sprinkling on cookies or using in whipped cream!

Will this thicken sour cream to make sour cream frosting?

I don't really know the answer to that question. It stabilizes whipped cream, it doesn't really thicken it. Don't know the effect on sour cream.

How many packages in one order? How much milk you need to add? Is it thivk enough to to straeberries?

Two packages in one order. I use it to stabilize the whipped cream. I use 1 cup of 35% of heavy cream per package. I don’t use it in winter. You need to mix it well with the heavy cream before whisk it.
