SST-C12 Super Stain Treat for Pools, 2.5-Pound

I never write a review, but I have to say this product really worked on our poolsWe have a copper/silver filtration system and at our pool opening the level was left too high. We come out one morning to find our pool with huge brown spots on the bottom and lots about 4ins of metal stains on the side of the pool.We knew we had to get the cooper levels lower so we did a metal out treatment, but with the levels still a bit high we were looking for something to remove the side staining. And have to say using the product really did work. We still have a bit of staining on the sides, but hoping that with maybe another few days of this product running thru will clear that up too.

Followed all directions. I am not surprised that the product did not help at all in removing blue green copper stains on the plaster since the stains had been there several years. I was very disappointed though that it had no effect on a handful of recently formed quarter sized rusty colored spots on the plaster. It also caused a yellow green color in some places on the existing blue green stains and they look worse than before.

Scrubbing or brushing pool is not necessary. Slowly pour half a bottle around pool and give an hour with pool pump running and pool is spotless.

I have tried several products for the metal stains on my fiberglass pool. With other products the stains come right back within a few days. It has been 3 weeks after I used this product and "knock on wood" the stains haven't come back. I have a 10,000 gallon pool and I used 1 bottle. With the severity of my stains on walls and floor I should have used 2 bottles. The other great thing is that you can swim within an hour and you dont have to clean the filters right away. Definitely worth the price.Before & after photos

SW Florida, 2017 hurricane Irma; our unground pool was stained as a result of Irma damage. We had the pool acid washed and 100% of the water exchanged. Still we had iron stains, subsequent palm fertilizations added manganese stains.Super Stain removed those stains completely 5 years after Irma.This stuff works.

Does not work on gunite pools. Spend a couple hundred dollars to get rid of phosphates afterwards.

For the price, I had to use two bottles. (18,000 gallon pool) I was expecting the stains to be 80-100% removed. It lightened two shades (60-80% improvement). I was told by other users and a pool service company that the stain I had, while somewhat significant, would be eliminated by use of this product. I was also disappointed to learn that it was also necessary to drastically reduce the alkalinity and PH prior to and during Stain treatment in order for the chemical to work properly. That culminated in an algae bloom that took super shocking and close to a week for the pool to return to a clear status. Felt the stain treatment in the long run added to the staining of the vinyl liner during treatment as the algae attack occurred while the pool chemical stability was vulnerable negating effectiveness of the product. I have used other stain treatment chemicals. Of all of them, this one was effective in reducing the stain. However, for the cost of the bottles and then the cost and time involved in treating the algae attack during treatment, the end result was a disappointing and frustrating experience overall.
