sturdy enough; don't go nuts with it
I read a lot of reviews on a lot of packs before I bought this one.It certainly isn't the best, but for the price, I think it has a lot of value. There are a lot of negative reviews about this pack for one reason or another - personally, I think many of the one-star reviews end up being from gear snobs, or people who didn't take the time to properly research the item.DON'T expect this to be of the same quality as a Maxpedition, 5.11, Kelty or other $150+ assault pack because it isn't - this pack is obviously not in the same league as the more expensive packs; the MOLLE spacing isn't perfect, the seams and webbing attachments aren't double stitched, and it won't have nearly as many bells and whistles as a Falcon 2.DO make sure you know what you're buying - it's a medium-quality 30-ish liter pack. If you're not familiar with how pack volumes are measured, you will probably be surprised at how small the pack is. I encourage you to use a tape measure to truly visualize the size of this pack before you buy it (the measurements in inches are in the product description) - being disappointed because this pack is smaller than you expected when you don't take the time to use the measurements provided by the manufacturer is a weak reason to leave a poor review, and indicates a lack of initiative and accountability on your part. All that aside, I do recommend this pack - if you don't abuse the hell out of it, and if you're willing to maintain it, it'll last a good long time.SIZE is perfect for a 72+ hour Get Home Bag - I was able to fit one full change of clothes (carhartts, base layer top, wool socks, gloves, rain shell), good amount of tools (knife and hatchet and such), large lvl 2 first aid kit, flashlights, batteries, Glock 17 and 2 magazines, SEWING KIT (very important, considering the pack), emergency bars, 10x12 tarp and sleeping pad, tons of cordage, the list goes on. This is NOT a good sized pack for your three day camping trip, or to carry four or five heavy textbooks to and from campus five days a week. Save yourself a facepalm and drop the cash on a larger pack. DO buy this pack as an affordable emergency pack to keep in your car, under your desk, or in your closet.DURABILITY is just fine, so long as you don't super-stuff the thing so the seams bulge. As I mentioned above, they are not double-stitched, so you will pop a seam eventually if you load the thing down. Too much weight and/or abuse will rip a shoulder strap free, yada yada. Take care of your gear, and pack a sewing kit capable of repairing canvas/leather and this is a non-issue. If you're NOT willing to deal with the relatively unlikely and minor inconvenience of periodic pack repair, don't buy this pack. You will whine about it. Those of you who don't operate under the illusion that every piece of outdoor or emergency gear should come with an unconditional lifetime guarantee, and are willing to play an active role in the upkeep of your gear, you will appreciate this pack as a cost-effective alternative to the more popular brands.Other notes:MOLLE spacing is not perfect. In fact, if memory serves, the description doesn't refer to the webbing loop system as being "MOLLE", which is fine - it will still work for many MOLLE accessories, as well as a good ol' fashioned P-cord weave.Digital camo pattern is very high quality, I'm really happy with how it looks.Shoulder straps, sternum strap and hip belt are comfortable and adjustable. I'm sure after four or five days of wear, I'd be pretty sick of them, but like I said, I wouldn't use this pack for a multi-day camping trip.A gripe I've seen in a few reviews addresses the Y-strap, and how you can't get the middle pouch to open completely because the strap is threaded through the pack's webbing all the way up the front. I was able to fix this in about 2 minutes, and I'm sure you can figure out how yourself. That's about it - I tried to address all of the negative aspects of reviews that I encountered before purchasing this pack myself, especially those that gave me pause or showed up over and over. Hopefully this helps steer folks like me to buying this pack - if you know what you want and what you're getting, then you'll be as happy with it as I am.Thanks!

2012-2020 and still going strong
What can I say? I bought this beast in 2012 for school books and such (always been a minimalist). After graduation, I use it for everything. Mostly it is my day pack when hiking. It's not odd for us to hike 15-20 miles and into the night. This pack has enough storage for an overnight campsite if needed and has plenty of space for expansion. The lower loops are set so you can place a backpacking tent there. Its no Osprey pack but this thing is great for what I do. I just keep it in my car that way I always have it handy for a hike and I have some gear and a first aid kit if needed.

Great every day carry bag!
I bought this bag and a Condor Compact Assault Pack at the same time to make one my Every Day Carry (EDC) bag and the other a bug out bag for my teenage daughter. I found that these two bags are nearly identical in size, shape, and features. It is obvious they are made in the same factory in China with only a few very small differences. Many people have commented about the size of the bag. For an EDC bag it is great; I can all the gear I need on a daily basis in it. It is not suitable for a 3-day (72 hour) bag. The Condor 3 Day Assault Pack is a much better (larger) size for that. But again, for a 24 hour bag it is great. The zippers on the Condor bag are the type that have the teeth hidden where as with this Rothco bag the zipper teeth are exposed. Both are high quality zippers so this isn't a differentiator. The Condor zippers may be more water resistent than the Rotcho ones due to this difference but I haven't done any testing to know for sure.I like the way the shoulder straps are mounted on the Rothco bag compared to the Condor bag. The top of the shoulder straps on the Rothco are attached to double reinforced strap loops and a metal D-ring. On the Condor bag they are attached to a single loop with a plastic ring. It may hold up under abuse but there is no doubt that the Rothco one will hold up to a lot more punishment than the Condor.Overall, the two bags are extremely similar and without close inspection you wouldn't know which is which. But in the end the Rothco bag is designed slightly better where it counts and is worth the $5 more in price.

Makes a good sissy bar bag...
Well so far so good. I bought mine to be used as a sissy bar bag on my motorcycle. The removable straps make it easier to modify it to attach to the sissy bar. With a few snap able police belt loops it’s a done deal.So on to the bag. It’s really a better quality then some of the cheaper ones... This is the replacement bag because the “cheap O” ones zippers crapped out in a year. The zippers seem like better quality and nothing feels cheap or easily to destroy. We’ll see if I can kill this one. But I feel this one will far better.

Great!
Best backpack I have ever owned. Yes the straps come loose but all you have to do is loop it back in the buckle right and it works perfect. The colour is really nice too. Looks great

A great purchase!
This pack has been all over the world with me and has faced a near daily beating for years. It's starting to show the wear but the pack is still solid! A great purchase!
