Castrol Transmax ATF/CVT Universal Automatic Transmission Fluid, 1 Gallon

Perfect transmission fluid for My Nissan Maxima 2018 CVT I’ve used Castrol Transmax ATF/CVT Universal Automatic Transmission Fluid on my 2018 Nissan Maxima, and it’s been excellent. After the change, the CVT felt smoother, with seamless acceleration and no hesitation. The driving experience became noticeably quieter and more consistent. If you have a Nissan CVT that needs frequent servicing, this fluid fits the bill. It’s convenient to keep on hand, works reliably, and the 1-gallon jug is the right size for a complete service without leaving you short. I still recommend double-checking your owner’s manual to confirm compatibility, as some transmissions can be picky about fluid type. But for my Maxima, it’s been a great match. The is rated NS3 for my 2020 Infiniti QX60 CVT. The Nissan stuff is ridiculously expensive in comparison. After the drain, refill and filters change, the car shifts just fine. At 38,500 (mostly freeway) miles on the car, the old fluid was quite clean and there was very little residue on the three magnets. I probably could have gone to 60,000 miles without issue, but I'd rather baby his thing since I plan on keeping it for 10 or more years total.

Used this in a RE5R05A that was in an Infiniti G35 when doing a trans fluid change. It meets the specs for the transmission and was enough to fill it, did feel better shifting quality once I had new fluid in and didn't have any problems afterwards. Would recommend if it fits your application.

Just what I needed

Good quality transmission fluid. Says it meets my manufacturers requirements so that helps. Looks alot better than my old fluid did. It's really nice to use a larger container versus several small quart sizes, makes it easy to change out.

Those of us with a CVT who want to avoid the very costly overhaul or replacement of our transmissions, should replace the fluid at regular intervals. Unfortunately, the stealerships and other service centers will take you to the cleaners for doing this very easy job. And even when we want to do it ourselves, the cost of the fluid can make us put it off. That is where Castrol comes to our rescue. This is just as good as the more expensive NS-3 rated brands. I have bought it before, used it a few times, put many miles on the vehicle, then used it again. I have experienced zero issues and saved a lot of money using it. My vehicle is a 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander with 105K miles as of this review. So far, I have drained and refilled the CVT three times, and it works as well as the day I drove it off the lot. Five stars all day long!!! Feb 2026 update: 130k miles and I just changed the transmission fluid again (I try to do it every 30K miles). Honestly, this is an easy way to keep the CVT running well. And the low price of this Castrol CVT fluid makes it affordable. With the usual high prices of NS-3 fluid, I can see why many people procrastinate and end up shortening the life of their transmission. No complaints so far.
