This 2L PYREX Erlenmeyer flask is designed with a heavy duty rim to reduce chipping. The uniform wall thickness provides the proper balance between mechanical strength and thermal shock resistance.

Great for homebrewing
Great for homebrewing. I used this to make a 1500ml starter last week (I did boil in a pot and transfer to the flask after, vice boiling in the flask directly).I checked the measurements with a calibrated measuring cup to ensure they were accurate using and they were spot on. This IS a Pyrex flask and is sturdy with a good flat base to allow the stir stick to rotate on. Well worth the money.

Fire & Ice
Others purchased from scientific warehouses for more money were not Pyrex and broke in a bath after heating. This flack has really impressed the science staff and they are sold on the new replacement.

Sturdy
Very sturdy flask compared to the other one that I purchased from my normal resource for purchasing brewing equipment from. Much thicker glass.

Great martini pitcher
The only conventional martini pitchers I could find are too tall and too narrow to easily stir. This flask allows one to swirl the cocktail and ice together with a casual, nay, insouciant roll of the wrist.Bonus: this is a wide mouth model and my ice cubes fit easily. Your mileage may vary, but in any case tilt the flask so the cubes slide in rather than crash to the bottom.Double bonus: a typical Hawthorn type strainer fits perfectly, gripping the outside of the rim rather than wedging inside the rim of a mixing glass.Triple bonus: cheaper than a Yari mixing glass.

Always order brand name - Pyrex
Do not waste time with other brands as they do not seem to be as rugged and has not stood up to my usage.
