Very Good Product (4.5/5). Please Read if You want to Save Time and Money
Overall, I would rate this product 4.5/5I bought one of these wireless security systems two months ago. I’ve been thoroughly testing it and decided to write a review about my findings so far. I‘m pretty sure it’ll be very helpful for anyone thinking about buying this product.Lessons Learned• This is a US$200.00 NVR. For such a price the functionality, usability, stability, and features are very good.• Please DON’T use a regular desktop hard drive with this or any other NVR/DVR system. You MUST use a hard drive specially designed for surveillance purposes, like Western Digital Purple Series or Seagate Skyhawk.• Wireless systems are sensitive to wireless interference and this NVR is not the exception. Please read the Signal Strength and Quality analysis in the Detailed Analysis section to learn on how to identify if your NVR is affected by wireless Interference and how to prevent it from happening.Quick EvaluationOverall: 4.5/5• System Setup and Documentation: 5/5• Product Quality: 4/5• Video Quality: 5/5• Night Vision: 5/5• Signal Strength and Quality: 4/5• Recording and Playback: 5/5• Remote Access from Smartphones, Tablets and Computers: 5/5• Seller Communication and Support: 5/5• Email Notification: 5/5• Motion Detection: 2/5Detailed AnalysisSystem Setup and Documentation: 5/5System setup is pretty straight forward. Just follow the steps specified in the user manual and you’ll have your system working in 10 minutes. The user manual is written in poor English, but it is not difficult to understand. It contains very specific and easy to follow instructions to set up your equipment and to configure the main features of the system (Recording, Motion detection, Remote access and Email notification). Please note that this system has some other advanced features that are not documented. You’ll have to learn those while exploring and experimenting with the NVR.NOTE: DON’T forget to change your password.Product Quality: 4/5Cameras and the NVR case are very sturdy. You can quickly see that these are made of good quality material. However, the cameras are not IP66. These are maybe IP64.I installed two cameras outdoor and after several days of heavy rain, both cameras got water inside and the night vision on one of them failed (the photocell was broken). Lucky for me, the seller was quite responsive and sent new cameras, no questions ask.Video Quality: 5/5This is a 720P system with 720P cameras. Video quality is really good. The system has two kinds of video streams with fixed settings:Main Stream: This is the video that you’ll see on your screen, and the one that will be recorded.Bitrate mode: VariableResolution: 1280x720Limited Rate: 2MbpsQuality: HighestFramerate: 15 fpsEncode format: H.264Sub Stream: This is the video that you’ll see remotely (You can also see the main stream remotely).Bitrate mode: VariableResolution: 640x360Limited Rate: 256KbpsQuality: HighestFramerate: 15 fpsEncode format: H.264Unfortunately, the system doesn’t allow you to change video quality parameters.Night Vision: 5/5I must say that my hat is off to the IR leds that are installed on each camera. Night vision is incredible clear. The seller says it reaches 65 feet; however, I’m able to see objects as far as 80 feet.Signal Strength and Quality: 4/5The most frequent problems you’ll probably experience with this system are related to signal strength and quality. I was not able to confirm if the cameras can connect to the NVR from the distance specified by the seller (350 ft with obstacles) because all my cameras are in a radio of about 40 ft from the NVR, but I was able to play a lot and learned how to identify signal strength and quality issues. It looks like this system is very susceptible to radio interference, and it tends to happen even more in houses built entirely with concrete blocks (like my case). But wait, don’t freak out. I’ll explain what I did to solve my radio interference issues.• In order to assure good signal quality, stable streaming and recording, the NVR should not be close to a wireless phone, WIFI AP, electric motor, engine or electric transformer. These create a lot of wireless interference and cause signal quality from the camera to vary a lot.• Make sure you install the NVR in a place as open as possible, like your living room or a room with plenty of open space.• Good video quality and uninterrupted video stream from cameras will be achieved with a signal strength of at least 25, or 3 out of 4 signal bars (I’ll show you how to view this levels in the next paragraph)The system shows signal strength only. You have two ways to see it: The signal bars, or by going to System Setup > Network Setup > Wifi Setup (See the attached picture). The other variable to consider is signal quality. Unfortunately, this system doesn’t have an indicator for this parameter, and this is probably the most important one. The only way to determine if you have signal quality issues (I’m assuming that your signal strength is at least 25, or 3 out of 4 signal bars) is if you experience at least one of the following issues:• Cameras are randomly disconnected from the NVR (the NVR says No video).• Video stream is randomly paused.• During video playback, you have a lot of frame loss or the NVR randomly skips time intervals on several cameras. Please note that this situation can also be caused by the Hard drive. That’s why you MUST buy a Surveillance hard drive. If you experience this condition and already have a surveillance hard drive, you are definitely experiencing WIFI interference/signal quality issues. In my case, I experienced all 3 conditions explained above. I relocated the NVR away from my WIFI AP and wireless phone to an open area in my living room. All problems were automatically gone and now I have perfect video streaming and recording, and an extremely fluent video playback. The system is working as expected. Here are some tips to improve signal strength/reception:• In some cases, I achieved better signal on cameras pointing the antennas downward.• You could face situations where your camera doesn’t have good signal strength. You can extend your antenna by using a SMA Male to SMA Female Antenna extension cable.I bought a 3ft extension cable from a local store for one of my cameras. The relocation of the antenna helped me improve signal strength from 6 to over 27.Recording and Playback: 5/5The system offers two recording options: Triggered by motion, and Constant Recording. I’ll elaborate on constant recording. If you don’t have the signal quality issues explained before, and your hard drive is a surveillance one, the system will record with no interruptions. Video playback starts right away and is very smooth. Each camera can consume up to 12GB per day. All 4 cameras will use up to 48GB per day. This means that you can have a video retention of 20 to 22 days with a 1TB hard drive.Remote Access from Smartphones, Tablets and Computers: 5/5You can access the system from a web browser, smartphone or tablet. Web access is pretty straight forward, just type in the IP address of the NVR and you are connected. The web interface has a very simple functionality. You can view the real-time stream of your cameras and the recorded videos. If you want to access your NVR from your smartphone or tablet, you’ll have to download an app. For android phones, you can use IP PRO or Eseenet Esee Eseenet+.I highly recommend using Eseenet Esee Eseenet+. It connects to your NVR really fast and lets you view your NVR recordings. If you want to access your NVR from the Internet, there is an easy way using cloud access (follow the instructions in your user manual). This method will create a session with an unknown server. Even though this is the easiest method, I don’t like it. I like to configure my remote access by forwarding the corresponding port on my router to the NVR and configuring a Dynamic DNS.Seller Communication and Support: 5/5The seller really excels at customer service. I contacted customer support since the very beginning due to some signal issues I had. Communication was always by email and they replied always a day after due to the time offset (seller is located in China). They always addressed my concerns with high priority and speed. When I reported the signal issues I had, they sent two high gain antennas for free. They also sent two new cameras to replace the ones that were water damaged, no questions ask.All parts where fulfilled by Amazon, so I received them in less than two days.I highly recommend this seller.Email Notification: 5/5The system sends you email notifications for motion triggered events. I tested it with Gmail and Hotmail without any major issues.I recommend using Gmail. It allows you to send more messages than Hotmail in a day.Motion Detection: 2/5The only real complain I have about this NVR is the motion detection. It works in a way that I still don’t understand. It detects motion but the picture it sends by email is delayed several seconds after the event happened, so you won’t see what really triggered the motion detection. It also detects motion using some kind of inefficient algorithm. Even the slightest change in illumination is detected as motion and gives you a lot of false positives.

Good unit for the money, mostly.
There's a lot to say about this security system, it is very reasonably priced and performs its intended function quite nicely. I paired this purchase with a 1 Tb surveillance rated hard drive and it is watching my house 24/7, which is what I bought it to do. There are a few things that could be better, though. The hardware seems very solid and it really is pretty much plug-and-play. Once power is provided to the cameras they show up on the monitor and that's about all you need to do to set up the cameras. Installing the hard drive takes a little skill but most people can likely figure out how to do that. The user interface is a little non-intuitive but after a few minutes of reading the (sometimes cryptic) instructions and playing around with the controls you can figure out how to use most or all of the features. I like that the wireless link from camera to base is independent of my home wifi, although you do need an internet connection at the base unit to enable remote viewing. The view from the cameras is not as wide angle as I would have preferred, so placement can be a little tricky. Be sure that four cameras is enough because this particular model of base unit doesn't appear to support additional cameras. The picture is clear and the night vision works well enough. The remote viewing software is a little buggy. It was very buggy until I updated the firmware on the base unit, so you'll want to make sure to do that. Sometimes it is hit-or-miss on whether the Android app will open all of the cameras on my phone and I have to close all of the windows and reopen the app to see all of the views. It is said in the product description that you can't view the system on a desktop or laptop, but there is a CMS application described in the users manual that you can download on a windows or MAC OS and it works on my windows machine fairly well. It has a glitch in the playback feature that renders that largely unusable, but I can view things real time, at least over my home network. Product support has promised to get back to me on the playback issue, until then I can always review all of the recorded video on the base unit monitor. To recap, the hardware is very good, the documentation could be clearer, the software has issues that I hope can and will be resolved. OTOH for around $200 I have a video surveillance system at my home that should serve as a deterrent to anyone who might want to mess with my stuff. Overall I would recommend this to folks who want to save a buck and don't mind spending a little time figuring things out.

Worked for 2 months, stopped and the supplier has not replied to my email.
These cameras worked for about 2 months. Then about 2 weeks ago they stopped. I mounted them outside around our house. I have reported this twice to the supplier and have not recieved even an email back.Last year I put Vimtag cameras inside our house, they are working fine, I wish I had got the Vimtag outside cameras instead. I will most likely return them when I return home.

A++ customer service, great surveillance system!
This camera system is great!Let me first start off with I had a few problems with the installation, but the customer service is A+ amazing! Don't be scared to buy this system, because the company is so easy to work with. It turned out that 2 of my power adapters were damaged and so those 2 cameras were not transmitting images, but the company sent me 2 new ones, free of charge. Then, I was having difficulty with setting up my connection, and customer service was so helpful! We did a Skype walk though to hammer out all of the problems (which were due to my errors, not the actual system) and had it up and running in no time!I use the 4 cameras outside around my house and property. I live in Central Ontario in the snow belt and had these operating all of winter 2017-2018, and not once did the cold temperatures or snow conditions compromise the hardware or images! (We had a lot of really cold days/night - down below -30 Celsius)Setting up the system was actually very easy - my problem began because my ISP (Ontario blue company) had blocked certain settings on my modem that I needed to be able to access. I got around this by connecting the NVR system to my Internet boosting router and adjusted the settings to achieve a connection.I love that I can leave my property and be able to see what's going on when I'm not there! The mobile app makes it so easy to take a picture or recording from each camera. The NVR system has amazing playback capabilities, which has come in handy on several occasions already! The image is clear and crisp, though my connecting is glitchy at times. Sometimes the transmission of movement in front of the camera can have a 3-5 second delay to the time it's seen on the screen. But I am quite sure this is due to my Internet connection and not the actual system. I live in a rural area and though I have "high speed", it is unreliable and often very glitchy. It is not fibre optic. All in all, we are very satisfied with the surveillance system and beyond impressed with the customer service!A+++!

The service and support is excellent. The camera quality is good for 720p
I have been running this unit for about a month, No real issues so far. The service and support is excellent. The camera quality is good for 720p. It is only 15 fps so picture is a bit choppy. The recording last about 2 weeks before being overwritten on a 1 TB drive. The motion sensor apparently does not work very well according to support so they suggest recording non stop. Will certainly shorten the life of your hard drive. The android application is working ok. If you have a weaker LTE connection, some camera will display a connection failure. Does not seems to use a lot of data if you use it carefully. Night vision is surprisingly good. Setup is very is, as long as you have a power connection. The system settings are also easy to setup and the OS seems to be stable. Would like to have a keyboard connection or compatiblity, you have to type using the mouse. Do yourself a favor and use your own screws to install the camera, otherwise, you will end up stripping them and relocation will be difficult. Overall, very good product, I just ordered a second set for my cottage.

Pros:-Amazing price vs. your typical Costco competition-Smonet App for iOS worksCons: (Mainly problems with the phone app)-manual isn't updated with Mobile App info. Can be confusing for the average user on which app to download-Mobile app has problems connecting to cameras over data (not wifi). Might be an app problem. We have fast internet speeds at home. Deleting and re-adding the Recorder seems to "fix" it-Wasn't able to connect more than 15-20 feet. Had to relocate the DVR receiver more central to the home with a longer Cat5e cable. House is just brick, concrete, and drywall-couldn't get the clock to 12H mode. Stuck on military time?-for these unknown brands, usually these mobile Apps stop being updated. I hope the apps continue to work in the future and that support for this product continues

This unit works excellent. Had some worries about a weak wi-fi signal to a remote camera (CH2 & CM4) about 20 metres away from the DVR. They promise sending 2 longer antennas. One (CH2) only shows 1 bar but still has a great picture when in. CH4 constantly drops, but very clean when is in. The clarity of the video is truly HD. The service and support from a few questions I had has also been excellent. I’ll post 5 stars… would give 10 stars, but maximum are 5.Also their customer support team has been excellent in replying to emails and assisting in figuring out best way to expand the camera system. I’m very happy with the system. Recommended to my neighbor e he went to buy it. He’s happy too. Everybody will be happy using this system. No disappointment I’m sure.Anthony Grilo
