No downsides that I have found, all positive. The 1st few swings seem too easy with this, however it is not long before the muscles begin to feel the strain. Great for warming up before practice or playing, and for use as a golf-muscle strengthening tool.

Because it's heavier than a normal driver, it helps exercise ALL of the muscles used to generate a golf swing!!

I am a decent golfer and just use this to work on setting up my tempo and stretching out before the round. I refuse to pay high dollar amounts for the other sticks just for something to warmup with. My only complaint is the grip/shaft sizing is really small. I will strip off the provided grip and buildup something more substantial to better mimic the feel of my game clubs.
